Manufacturing Supervisor – Stator and Coil Departments – 1st Shift

Position Overview:

Performs the completion of projects within the Stator, Coil and Core Build Departments. Completes complex product manufacturing to ensure that cost effectiveness, manufacturability, quality, and safety requirements are attainable in the production process. Ensures accuracy and availability of complex procedures to support product modifications and assembly. Meets or improves on planned product/system cost standards and expense budgets.

Responsibilities:

•Supervise approximately 35 hourly manufacturing employees.
•Ensure all safety requirements for both OSHA and site specific are adhered to.
•Coordinate with both upstream and downstream manufacturing supervisors and production control to meet production requirements.
•Conduct weekly safety audits and bimonthly safety talks with departments.
•Assign organization and housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment using standard 5S procedures.
•Successfully defines work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.
•Impact of decisions on business operations can have a moderate to high level of impact.
•May develop departmental budgets and business plans for functional area.
•May evaluate and recommend changes in methods or procedures in own area of responsibility.
Identifies resource needs and may develop justification.
•Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
•May be responsible for overall success of function or project.
•Able to accept new directives and be dynamic.

Job Family Responsibilities:

Demonstrates and applies broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for managed work group(s) and how it supports related operations. Demonstrates understanding and application of supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.

Preferred Education:

BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Successful knowledge and experience in manufacturing Stator Cores, Coils, and Form Wound Stators. Typically, 5-8 years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.

• Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SAP, and Outlook.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Understanding of Lean principles and practices.
• Knowledge and experience of Total Productive Maintenance systems.
• Read and Interpret Blueprints.
• Read and Interpret electrical schematics.
• Understand tolerances, both Metric and Standard measurement systems.
• Experience with various types of measuring: Micrometers, Calipers, etc.
• Preferred knowledge of Form Wound Stator manufacturing processes.
• Preferred knowledge of Coil manufacturing processes.
