Position Overview

Completes actions in-line with Manufacturing Engineering Department's goals.

Responsibilities include identifying & assisting with the elimination of safety concerns, detecting & mitigating quality issues, and recognizing productivity inefficiencies then improving the methods and procedures. This role will manage processes & be responsible for coordinating, preparing and releasing the improvements, assisting with the resolution of conflicts and accelerating the processes when necessary. The successful individual will work closely with multiple departments including Environmental Health & Safety, Quality, and Production, creating a partnership between the departments.

Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineer will be primarily responsible for the development and implementation of complex performance improvement initiatives. Performs complex inspections and investigations; gathering data to determine the process potential to create a non-conformance. Completes analysis of existing processes to ensure effective operations, specifically targeting the ability to produce world-class quality assemblies. Provides recommendations for processes to ensure alignment with strategic direction. Coordinates necessary process changes (through standardization, improvement, simplification, discontinuance, or other methods) and assists in implementing solutions. Integrates business processes between multiple organizations. Actively participates in the design phase of product to ensure error-proof manufacturing techniques are utilized.

Responsibilities of this position will include those typical of a Manufacturing Engineer. These tasks include analyzing data related to proper utilization of company labor, equipment, materials and facilities. Performing complex planning of equipment layout, workflow, and accident prevention measures to maintain optimum and safe utilization of plant resources. Determining the most economic/efficient methods, operation sequences, and tooling for the processes used to assemble components for complex equipment. Actively participates in the design phase of product to ensure lean manufacturing methods are utilized.

This individual independently performs full range of standard work in the professional field. Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations. Frequent communication with inter-organizational & external contacts.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

·  BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
·  Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments.
·  Successfully applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in particular area of specialization.
·  Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.
·  Considerable experience utilizing problem solving tools & quality assurance methodologies including Plan-Do-Check-Act (A3), 8D, Kaizen, Lean Cell Design, Error-Proofing, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, 5-Why, Ishikawa, etc.
·  Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key
·  Responsibilities and knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
