Job Description

Siemens Rail Electrification are seeking outstanding system design engineers to join their growing specialist engineering teams driving forward not just the largest electrification projects in the UK, but also enhance the safety and reduce costs of transport systems used by tens of millions of people worldwide.

Applications are invited from engineers committed to making a difference to society and the environment delivering better, cleaner, safer transport systems.

Applications are welcomed from engineers across the breadth of system design, including traffic modelling, AC and DC traction power study, 3-phase load flow, power quality, immunisation, earthing and EMC specialists. As well as a strong track record in at least one specialism, you will bring an appetite to broaden your expertise, both in system design and potentially other railway electrification disciplines. Successful applicants will demonstrate an aptitude to switch between engaging with clients to understand their requirements and aspirations at high level, construction of complex engineering models and simulations, and interpretation of results to provide clear answers for clients in their language. Switching between real-world physical systems and abstract electrical models will become effortless.

Working in our specialist Innovation centre, a typical day might see you switch from meticulous software modelling and interpretation, to challenge results, problems and potential solutions around a whiteboard with colleagues. You will share our passion for delivering for our customers, continual learning, pushing boundaries and testing assumptions.

You will be part of a dynamic team, working among the best in the industry and redefining what is possible in railway electrification. You will be involved in introducing innovations delivering a step change in cost and performance of railway systems, making a real difference to safety and reliability of millions of journeys daily.

·  Maintain a continuous communication with contractors and customers in the development and implementation of projects to ensure a uniformity of purpose and common targets.
·  Contribute to development of tenders and offers.
·  Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures including development of the project Safety Plan, within the scope of allocated tasks.
·  Focus on individual and team development through the completion of annual performance appraisals, career reviews and through the management of poor performance.
·  Perform duties as directed by Management from time to time in connection with electrification design activities.

What do I need to qualify for this job?
