Fixed Income Quantitative Analyst

Job description



· Apply financial analysis to support market recommendations and investment ideas
· Use initiative and judgment to analyze, problem solve and proactively respond to internal and external client information requests
· Support current and develop new analytics and quantitative tools in support to of US Rates and US Macro Credit Strategy products and publications

Responsibilities:

· “Own” all support functions and responsibilities required for efficient conduct of the US fixed strategy effort, including regular monitoring of valuation tools, updates of client marketing presentation decks and client relationship management systems
· Master research publishing process (proofing final drafts, researching and preparing underlying data for charts & tables, publication formatting.
· Coordinate with strategy colleagues across HSBC global Fixed Income Research team
· Contribute to US Rate Strategy and US Macro Credit Strategy publications, including Weekly Analysts' Meeting (weekly), US Credit Chartpack (weekly), Fixed Income Asset Allocation (monthly), US Rates and US Credit Strategy commentaries (ad hoc), and Multi-Asset reports (ad hoc).

· Each employee must ensure compliance with operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC policies or regulatory standards; act at all times in a professional manner that minimizes operational risk and optimizes relations with regulators

· Identify and escalate operational issues and/or problems to manager

Observation of Internal Controls

· Each employee must maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Any failures to comply with the above should be reflected in year-end performance assessments
· Each employee must understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy

Desired profile



Qualifications :

·  Minimum 2 years professional experience; demonstrated abilities in financial and quantitative analysis tools and techniques
·  Undergraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, economics or related course work
·  Excel modeling skills required, experience with C and VBA Excel programming
·  Bloomberg proficiency

Professional Skills / Certifications:

·  NASD Series 7 and Series 63 required (will sponsor)
·  CFA encouraged (will sponsor)
