Role Summary/Purpose

As part of GE Digital, the Grid Solutions team builds world class mission-critical systems that manage power flow across the globe. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure these systems are of the highest quality. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, results-driven, team-oriented environment, taking on test activities throughout the entire product lifecycle such as requirements analysis, test planning, regression testing and test reporting.
Essential Responsibilities

You will have worked in an agile environment, have solid test skills and be able to work on test automation as opportunities are identified.

You’ll be responsible for both testing new software features and existing functionality working closely with the development team and taking direction from team leaders. Over time you’ll increase your ability to work independently.

·  Participate in all scrum activities, such as requirements gathering, story writing, design and test reviews

·  Break down problems and estimate efforts for test-related tasks

·  Demonstrate increasing expertise in application domain and functional areas

·  Use various testing types and methodologies effectively during the development lifecycle

·  Work with developers, testers, and product managers to identify, reproduce, and resolve defects

·  Interface with project managers, engineers and customers on general and specific issues

·  Verify the new functionality works as intended and continues to work over time. Use best practices to create and execute high-quality tests

·  Make use of test automation to speed up testing. Identify automation needs and work with the team to implement solutions
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

·  A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the technology space with emphasis on software development and testing.

Eligibility Requirements:

·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
Desired Characteristics

·  Requires at least three (3) years of software testing experience of multi-tiered client-server systems.

·  Good knowledge of modern software development practices. Experience with continuous delivery would be a plus.

·  Experience translating requirements, use-cases and stories into test plans, test cases and automated tests.

·  Able to demonstrate competence and self-motivation in analyzing problems and performing root cause analysis

·  Can take work on multiple projects simultaneously – the ability to prioritize is important.

·  Excellent written and oral communication skills

·  Excellent judgment skills to assess high-risk areas

·  Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

·  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be an outstanding team player

·  Ability to be creative, efficient, and productive with minimal supervision or guidance

·  Some experience with common testing tools, such as QTP, qTest or Selenium would be helpful.

·  A basic understanding of software design principles, patterns, algorithms, data structures, and multi-threading concepts would be useful.
