The Quality Inspector ensures the required quality standards are consistently maintained, conducts quality inspections on components, monitors and records results from the processes and procedures, and delivers exceptional service . Further, as a Quality Inspector, you will be involved with teams to perform root cause corrective action investigations, report quality trends, and provide input for process improvements.

Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A high school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of machining experience or 1 year of precision machining inspection experience. (NDE not included)
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
  • Ability to understand blueprints, machining process sheets, and shop specifications.
  • Moderate - heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, bending, and/or squatting/stooping or working in tight places or above shoulder height.
  • Eyesight correctable to 20/20 required.  

Essential Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprint, tooling prints, gage prints, specifications, GD&T and other quality documents pertaining to the manufacturing of products produced or purchased.
  • Use inspection instruments including CMM’s, contour tracers, comparators, micrometers, gauge blocks, calipers, indicators, etc. to measure precision machined aircraft components.
  • Perform necessary mathematical calculations as required with minimum amount of training.
  • Conduct diversity of inspections which may include first piece inspections, in-process sampling, first article inspections, or final floor inspection of parts.
  • Assist machinists with checking dimensions that cannot be measured at the machine.
  • Verifying dimensions taken at the machine with 1 over 1 inspection.
  • Check parts for conformity to processes and specifications.
  • Follow standardized procedures with allowable variations defined.
  • Devise ordinary gaging/measuring setups.
  • Notify supervisor in case of excessive defects.
