Role Summary/Purpose

This position serves a key technical role within the research & development team of a world leading medical imaging manufacturer to develop new imaging methods and workflows leveraging artificial intelligence for the next-generation of products. The successful candidate will collaborate with academic partners to develop and test new approaches and work with a team of GE scientists and engineers to design solutions that can be integrated into product frameworks to serve our global patients.
Essential Responsibilities

1. Combine advanced knowledge of imaging, engineering, and clinical needs to design and develop new intelligent capabilities and services leveraging automation and AI to improve the speed, quality, and consistency, and clinical impact of imaging workflows – from patient setup, data acquisition and reconstruction to image analysis and interpretation.
2. Work with cross-functional teams to innovate and change the way software is used to rapidly build new services that help unlock, correlate, and analyze the clinical data that powers intelligent, precision healthcare
3. Leverage understanding of edge and cloud computing, virtualization and containerization technologies to help build and integrate prototypes onto industry platforms for clinical deployment and testing
4. Provide technical expertise for data analytics, integration and solution design
5. Work with an inter-disciplinary GE team to help translate promising prototypes into product readiness and lead technical/clinical risk retirement towards new product introduction
6. Effectively communicate technical ideas, analyses, results, and next steps to GE leadership
7. Identify industry and academic trends in the areas of machine learning research and new applications of ML relevant to clinical imaging needs
Qualifications/Requirements

1. M.S. Degree in an engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math or Physics
2. Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (Medical Imaging, Image Processing, Software Engineering) applying theoretical or experiential knowledge to solve real world problems
3. Familiarity with clinical imaging and related healthcare workflows.
4. Foundation in theories underlying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques
5. Experience in C++ programming and Object Oriented Programming Concepts
6. Experience in Machine Learning development libraries and Kubernetes
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
8. Ability to work independently with minimal direction
9. Strong collaboration skills and desire to contribute to a common purpose
10. Can-do attitude, self-driven, flexible, intellectually curious, willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges to meet business goals
11. Excellent English language communication skills

Desired Characteristics

1. Ph.D. Degree in an engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math or Physics
2. Familiarity with large data sets, open source practices and frameworks and experience in putting intelligent applications in production
3. Experience working with C++ and Python IDEs – e.g. : Eclipse, Visual Studio, XCode & PyCharm
4. Experience with source control tools (Perforce & Git)
5. Experience with High Performance Compute or GPU technologies
