Role Summary/Purpose

As an Engine Performance Engineer in Military Engineering, you will be responsible for working in a cross-functional team to accurately analyze and model GE’s fielded military aviation fleet and its next generation military architectures. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as an Engine Performance Engineer, you will:

·  Work across engine systems, aero, operability, and heat transfer organizations to accurately model engine performance

·  Utilize latest thermodynamic modeling tools and techniques to generate and communicate engine steady-state data

·  Support engine test planning, coverage, and data analysis for development and qualification engine tests

·  Evaluate test data to determine component performance and make design recommendations as appropriate to ensure overall system performance meets requirements

·  Utilize test data to improve thermodynamic engine model accuracy and fidelity

·  Execute, with guidance from experienced engineering resources, the creation, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product & program requirements

·  Contribute to propulsion system analysis activities to ensure on time delivery of accurate results

·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

·  Ability to obtain and/or maintain government security clearance

Desired Characteristics

·  Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to Propulsion from an accredited college or university

·  Familiar with gas turbine engine performance cycle design and analysis

·  Proficiency with industry thermodynamic modeling tools, particularly NPSS

·  Familiarity with programing languages such as C++ and Python

·  Demonstrated acumen in digital tools and PC proficiency

·  Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Proven analytical and organizational ability

·  Highly motivated with good engineering judgment
