Job Description

Description of the job :
Do you love diving into software, RF, electronics and test and measurement fields? Looking to test products that are going into space?

Do you enjoy finding out how hardware and software interact and communicate? Love creating and designing test solutions for complex equipments and then reporting the results?? Do you enjoy seeing how things respond to tests and then automating tests so the responses are consistent? If you're looking for a test engineering and development role, rather than purely software testing - then this is the role for you!

As a Test Design Engineer you will be working in an environment covering hardware, software, measurement equipment, RF (Radio Frequency) equipment, electronics and interfaces. You will get the opportunity to create and design the environment, decide what equipment will be in that environment, develop test software and then delivering your findings. You will be focusing on high levels of integration, reliability and automation.

We're looking for someone who has a passion for Engineering, with a proven track-record in successfully delivering high quality designs.

Do you appreciate that the system and environment is only as good as the sum of its parts - so what are you going to add to that environment?

This role may require occasional UK travel, around 4 times per year.

Task & accountabilities :
¤ Lead the design, development and validation of test system hardware and software to meet the challenging demands of testing digital equipment destined for space applications.
¤ Work with heritage test systems and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology to create an automated test system that meets the demands of verifying the product requirements
¤ Deliver a 'test solution' including hardware, software, test reports, procedures, test scripts and results analysis.
¤ Work within a dedicated test-system team and interact closely with product engineers and project managers to deliver testing to the cost, schedule and quality expectations.
¤ Support all test activities (including environmental testing) until final delivery of flight units to the, internal and external, customers.
¤ Assist in investigations into any test anomalies to rapidly determine the root cause and ensure that customer confidence in the product is maintained.
¤ Prepare and carry out design reviews (software/system).

Required skills :
Strong background in Electrical / Electronic engineering
¤ Strong understanding in RF (Radio Frequency) test and measurement equipment, familiar with their operation, control and automation e.g. spectrum analysers, Vector Network Analyser (VNA), Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG)
¤ Software design experience (C/C++ and scripting languages such as Tcl / Python)
¤ Experience of hardware/software integration testing

Many of our staff work flexibly in many different ways, including part-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need. We can’t promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.

The successful candidate will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check) in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.
In return we can offer a competitive salary with annual profit share an ever growing list of company benefits and strong career development options across our transnational, market leading company

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
