Job Title:  Senior Technical Artist

 

Job Summary:

As a Senior Technical Artist, you will be responsible for research, innovation and giving technical support to team members to guide and assist them in the best practices possible to ensure highest technical quality of asset production.

Responsibilities:

·  Put in place the graphic production pipeline
·  Be familiar with the game design documents so as to be able to determine the technical needs of the project as they pertain to graphics.
·  Produce documentation on tools, methods, training, processes, and engine constraints for future reference and consultation.
·  Create, organize, and lead training sessions so that all members of the modeling team can properly use the tools and methods.
·  Coordinate and act as a contact between the modeling team and the programming team.
·  Serve as the technical contact for technical issues related to asset production.
·  Regularly communicate technical constraints and their reasons to the modeling team.
·  Provide constant technical support for tools and engine to each member of the graphics team.
·  Assure assets are of the highest technical quality
·  Work closely with the Art Leads to deliver the art vision within the project requirements
·  Remain informed of new technical and technological developments to be able to apply these developments on the project whenever relevant and share project developments with peers
·  Drive optimization and debugging to fix issues raised.
·  Develop or find the best tools and methods possible for improving and facilitating the work of the artists
·  Test new tools before deployment into production

Qualifications:

·  College Diploma/Degree in graphic design 2D and 3D or in video game development or any other equivalent training
·  5 - 10+ years of experience as Technical Artist
·  Must have shipped a minimum of 1+ AAA games.

 

Profile:

·  Excellent knowledge of real-time modeling techniques (shaders, PBR, normal map, displacement etc.)
·  Excellent knowledge of Maya/3ds Max, Houdini, Substance Designer, Painter
·  Detailed knowledge of the technical constraints of engines and the different game platforms
·  Knowledge of an asset management system (ex : Perforce, VSS, Alienbrain);
·  Knowledge of Python, MEL, MAXScript an asset
·  Knowledge of a programming language (C++, C# etc.) an asset
