The internship will be hosted inside GU team (Geostatistics and Uncertainties) in Pau. TotalEnergies has recently developped methods based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for massive and consistent interpratation of well log measurments for instance. With a previous internship supported by Exploration (summer 2025), a progam based on Python libraries has been set up to perform regional mapping (assisted with AI) for continuous variables (thickness, porosity) using well data and other potential influencing variables (seismic attributes, distance to major faults, environments of deposition). It is now envisioned to generalize this program with the help of our contractors. The objective is to propose the method to a larger number of users. The intern will be hosted during 5 months minimum within a period from April 2026 to October 2026 (to be adjusted with the intern).
Le travail de stage sera effectué au sein de l'entité GU (Geostatistique and Uncertainties) à Pau. TotalEnergies a mis l'accent ces dernières années sur les méthodes d'intelligence artificielle et plus particulièrement les méthodes d'apprentissage automatisé (pour l'interprétation massive de données de puits notamment). Le travail de stage fera suite à un premier travail pour la cartographie régionale à partir d'un large jeu de données (Explo été 2025). Sur base de librairies Python utlisant les méthodes de Machine Learning (Random Forest et Gradient Booster) ce travail a permis de construire des dérives ou tendances régionales avec incertitudes, en se basant sur les puits et sur un certains nombre d'attributs (attributs sismiques, distances aux failles, environnements de dépôts, ...). Il est maintenant envisagé de généraliser ces méthodes et d'en donner l'accès à un plus grand nombre d'utilisateurs. Le stagiaire sera accueilli pour une période de 5 mois minimum a définir entre début avril 2026 et fin octobre 2026.
As a Reservoir Geoscience and Statistics Engineer Intern M/F, your responsibilities will include :
- In collaboration with our subcontractors, generalizing the Python code (transition from 2D grids to 3D grids, application to discrete variables such as facies) and integrating it into a broader IT environment (Dataiku, as well as interfacing with Sismage, the company's geomodeling tool).
- Applying the methodology to data from the Tilenga field (Uganda) to demonstrate the benefits of this approach in a context where datasets evolve rapidly and mapping must be continuously adapted.
Participation in software development may be considered depending on your motivation.

En tant que stagiaire Ingénieur Géosciences et statistiques H/F, vos missions seront :
Avec l'aide de nos sous-traitants) de généraliser le code Python (passage de grilles 2D à grilles 3D, application aux variables discrètes telles que facies) et de l'intégrer dans un environnement informatique plus général (Dataiku, mais aussi interfaçage avec Sismage, le géomodeleur de la compagnie). Le but de travail sera d'appliquer la méthodologie aux données du champ de Tilenga (Ouganda) pour démontrer le gain d'une telle méthode sur un cas ou le jeu de données évolue très rapidement et ou la cartographie doit être adaptée en permanence.
Une participation aux développements informatiques est envisageable en fonction de la motivation de l'étudiant.

Profil recherché
Currently enrolled in an engineering school or pursuing a Master's degree in Geosciences, you are looking for a 6-month end-of-study internship starting in April 2026 ?
You have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of geomodeling and strong knowledge in geosciences ? Familiarity with artificial intelligence would be an asset.
Comfortable with IT tools, you have good skills for potential development in Python and WebApp. You will be involved in supporting Python code comprehension and using datasets to illustrate its relevance.
Are autonomy, rigor, and team spirit among your strengths ?
Strong writing skills and a professional command of English (intermediate level minimum) will be essential for this position.

Actuellement en école d'ingénieur ou en Master dans le domaine Géosciences, vous recherchez un stage de fin d'étude d'une durée de 6 mois à partir d'Avril 2026 ?
