Position Title:

Principal Engineer- Piping Layout

Work Location:

NOIDA

Reports To:

Functionally to Lead Engineer – Piping/ Department Head

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Supports Lead Engineer to Acquire and understand the Project goals from Contract, specific documentation and the kick-off meeting and Sets up the procedure for control of Discipline activities
·  Responsible for all piping layout activities for the assigned project/ design area meeting manhour budget and project schedules.
·  Responsible for management of plot plans, equipment layouts, 3D modelling, piping MTO's, IFC deliverables of the assigned unit/ design area.
·  Monitors and reports actual piping progress including 3D modelling and controls man-hours and delivered documents of the assigned unit/ design area.
·  Provides technical guidance and assigns work to engineers, designers and others who assist in performing specific assignment.
·  Coordinates with project personnel, vendor's representatives and project field personnel to gather and give information.
·  Coordinates with other disciplines for performing the assigned task for piping in multidisciplinary project.
·  Coordinates with CAD team for 3D modeling/material database related subjects
·  Performs interdisciplinary checks as required.
·  Working with Client/ PMC for resolving the Technical queries, obtaining the necessary technical approvals, etc
·  Issue documents/ drawings according to various statutory approval requirements like IBR, OISD, PESO etc.
·  Working with the vendors for Kick –Off Meetings after the award of the PO, review meetings for discussing the technical queries and the solutions, keeping a track of the vendor's activities and the progress.
·  Review of vendor deliverables to ensure their technical compliance. Provide necessary inputs to other disciplines.
·  Attending model reviews with client and ensuring closure of comments as directed by Lead engineer.
·  Supporting the proposal efforts for various projects bids
·  Ensuring all documents & work process are as per Quality Management System
·  Maintains KPI, Change Tracking, Schedule Tracking, Value Engineering, Lesson Learnt etc.
·  Gives on-the-job training, promotes development of subordinates, evaluates and counsels assigned personnel.

MAIN TASKS:


·  Exercises following:
·  Overall delivery of technical deliverables of the assigned unit/ design area
·  Technical issue resolution for layout/ 3 D modelling issues
·  Productive utilization and absorption of engineering and design resources
·  Technical and operative interface activities with other departments for assigned task
·  Performance and review of engineering activities and deliverables related to 3D modelling, piping studies and layout issues
·  Prioritization and planning of engineering activities and deliverables
·  Tracking day-to-day progress with electronic tools & Reporting the progress, concerns to Piping Lead on regular interval

·  Responsible for achieving department/ project KPI objective, productivity, milestones in a multidisciplinary task force.
·  Performs and reviews 3D modelling activities and provides inputs to other disciplines for completion of engineering activities of the assigned unit/ design area.
·  Supports field technical issues and others in technical communications with clients/vendors when required.

REQUIREMENTS:

·  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with at least 9 years of overall industry experience
·  Practical work experience of minimum 9 years in piping engineering to demonstrate as experienced piping engineer.
·  Have worked as Unit/ Area lead for at least 5 years in multi discipline detailed engineering team in Oil and Gas sector.
·  Shall have experience in preparation/ review of Design basis, various specifications, design and construction standards required for piping design.
·  Knowledge and experience with various ASME/ API/ NEMA/ TEMA/ ASTM, OISD, IBR and IS codes and standards as well as various PMC standards.
·  Should be able to perform piping studies directly in 3D model for piping connected to various type of equipment like Columns, Exchangers, Vessels, Pumps, Compressors, reactors, Tanks etc.
·  Thorough knowledge of IFC Isometric issue work processes and checking requirement.
·  Field execution experience will be an added advantage.
·  Capable of providing Value Engineering inputs in the assigned unit/ area.
·  Proficiency in working of 3D modelling tools like PDS/ PDMS/ SP3D and their associated software's.
·  Good understanding of basic stress & support related piping concepts
·  Should have a sound knowledge of work processes involving latest engineering tools
·  Proficient in 3D model review in SPR/ Navisworks.
·  Advanced analytical, problem solving, accuracy, attention to details, and interpersonal skills.
·  Ability to establish and meet deadlines for the team, manage priorities, and effectively achieve the goals in fast paced environment is critical.
·  Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is essential. Ability to foster communication within diverse cultural environments.
·  Ability to plan, communicate/present concepts and reports on complex topics with the ability to persuade and influence others as needed.
·  Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and to respond appropriately.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Spends most of time in a temperature-controlled office environment. If required shall go to site deputation/international deputation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent sitting and operating a computer. Fast paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant change.
