Are you looking to build a solid foundation for a successful career, as well as contribute your creativity, talents and passion to an exciting, fast-paced organization?  Solvay’s Foundations for the Future industrial leadership development program, now in its 20th year, offers ambitious new engineers the opportunity to take on exciting and challenging assignments at any of our 50+ manufacturing sites throughout North America. 

Foundations for the Future is specifically designed for entry-level graduates in Chemical or Mechanical engineering.  You will be extensively involved from day one in hands-on field work and advanced analytical problem-solving in chemical manufacturing environments around the country.  This program’s rotations are designed to last between 18-24 months and relocate 2-3 times within our North America manufacturing sites.  You’ll become a valuable partner of the Solvay family and within five years, be taking on key responsibilities in future manufacturing and business roles.

We are seeking individuals who demonstrate high potential through their academic accomplishments, extracurricular involvement and solid internship experience.  We value dynamic team players who are flexible, innovative and eager to tackle new challenges.

As a Foundations for the Future (FFF) Engineer, you may gain experience in some of the following roles:

Process Engineer 
You will successfully implement and lead production performance improvement projects, provide support to the engineering department in the various fields (safety/environment, quality, capacity, competitiveness), and may manage a team of technicians.

Production Engineer
You will learn to analyze and improve current processes, to manage the industrial and manufacturing excellence projects, and to ensure process safety and product quality within the unit 

Maintenance Engineer
You will evaluate current work procedures/methods and propose, describe, test and implement improvements, new techniques and methods, and provide specialized maintenance tasks and expertise.   Will also be responsible for reliability & cost improvement projects and advising on failure analyses. 

Project Engineer
You will interact and work with investment projects, taking up the coordination between the different stakeholders (internal and external), the control of the production of engineering deliverables (internal or subcontracted).  You will also have the opportunity to interface with purchasing and construction, and will perform specific missions in relation to project execution.

Research Engineer
You may have an opportunity to deploy the research & innovation strategy for one’s own perimeter, and potentially manage and deliver a portfolio of R&I projects

As a FFF engineer, you will be introduced to many organizational leaders who will guide you along your journey within Solvay.  Networking events will enable you to develop strong working relationships quickly with manufacturing leaders, plant management, direct supervisors, coaches/mentors and alumni of the FFF program.

Education and Experience:

Required Qualifications
A successful candidate will have:
Demonstrated a commitment to participating in a rotational program that will require relocation as you move through assignments.  A particular rotation can last anywhere from 18-24 months
Shown a willingness to relocate and travel accordingly.  Location will be at the discretion of Solvay based on particular business needs
Bachelors in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering obtained December 2019 or May/June 2020
Minimum GPA of 3.0

Skills:

Successful completion of an internship or co-op assignment in a relative environment.  This may include, but is not limited to – Specialty Chemical, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Pulp & Paper, or Food & Beverage industries 
Desire to build relationships with multiple business units and functions within the organization
