Job description

Responsibilities

The Structured Products and Derivatives legal team which supports Socgen's Global Markets division comprises around 20 lawyers, split across Paris and London. The team covers work undertaken by the international structuring, trading and sales desks in structured and flow derivatives, in particular FX, equity, credit derivative, interest rate and money markets products, including electronic trading and clearing thereof. The work covers the trading of over-the-counter swaps as well as the issuance of securities, including warrants, preference shares and certificates.

The London team, which is located in SG's fantastic brand-new state-of-the-art building at One Bank Street, is currently looking to take on a graduate to assist on all coverage areas in a paralegal type role. In particular, you are likely to assist with:

·
the review/drafting/negotiation of term sheets and contracts relating to securities issuance and derivatives transactions, including distribution agreements, swap confirmations, service agreements, confidentiality agreements, software agreements, terms of business and other derivatives documentation with external clients or suppliers;

·
advising the Global Markets sales, trading and structuring desks on all aspects of their securities issuance and flow and structured derivatives business; and

·
researching legal and regulatory issues and dealing with miscellaneous legal queries from the trading floor.

You will be expected to have excellent academics, including legal qualifications, good commercial awareness and a proactive approach to work, although you will not necessarily be expected to have any detailed product knowledge or previous experience in an investment bank. Relevant training will be given by senior legal team members over the course of the contract with the intention that you become more self-sufficient as time passes. Previous paralegal experience will be an advantage, although not essential.
