Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

The KYC team (“OPER/CLM/KYC”) is the team responsible within OPER/CLM for the analysis and management of files for SG UK entities for the take on of new clients with the aim of ensuring that the Bank meets all of its legal and regulatory responsibilities and obligations in connection with all KYC matters.

The main task of the team is to ensure that the KYC files progress through the correct approval chain in the optimal manner and are processed efficiently and in a readily identifiable manner once sanctioned.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

To conduct a risk-based analysis on prospective clients with a view to forming an opinion as to the suitability from a KYC perspective of individual clients to conduct business with SGCIB

· 
To provide guidance to the Front Office (‘'FO'') in respect of the KYC requirements of SGCIB

· 
To proactively manage the onboarding of clients by executing all the best practices stipulated by the KYC policy handbook

Summary of responsibilities

·

To provide guidance to the Front Office (‘'FO'') in respect of the KYC requirements of SGCIB

· 
To proactively manage the onboarding of clients by executing all the best practices stipulated by the KYC policy handbook

· 
To ensure that the statutory and mandatory information provided by the front office in connection with the “take-on” of new clients is relevant, complete and fit for purpose, and that take-ons are conducted in accordance with SGCIB and Compliance KYC policy

· 
Manage the KYC New Request mailbox with the existing onboarding team and respond to queries from the Business Line accurately, efficiently and promptly

· 
Apply a suitable categorisation for all clients according to current KYC guidelines and standards

· 
Prepare supplementary documentation on file/queries as and when required (e.g. reports for Compliance, Memos, file notes)

· 
To be flexible and work to tight deadlines when required (for example, with urgent requests from the Business Line) on the take-on of new clients

· 
For complex transactions, analysis of the role of associated parties to the transaction and identification of potential regulatory and reputation risks in liaison with the relevant Business Line.

· 
Carry out appropriate due diligence checks and information searches in line with the internal standards for client take on and undertake additional reputation checks and diligences as and when necessary, (depending on the risk level of the file). To raise potential concerns (AML, CTF, regulatory) and if required to prepare a detailed KYC Compliance report and submit the file to Compliance.

· 
To assist the KYC team and KYC manager with training sessions to the Business Lines when required

Level of Autonomy and Authority
A KYC Associate has a degree of autonomy in relation to the collation of data, the presentation of a file for Review and recommendations as to the category awarded to client and the way forward

Profile Required

Competencies

· 
Prime Brokerage experience and advantage

· 
Experience of change management (initiating change to streamline onboarding process/procedures)

· 
Experience in dealing with front office staff, including Senior Management

· 
Strong analytical ability required

· 
Strong teamworking skills required

· 
Strong written communication skills required

· 
Strong verbal communications skills required

· 
Good organisational ability required

· 
Ability to work well under pressure required

· 
Ability to juggle priorities required

· 
The ability to work unsupervised, and the willingness to work extra hours when required.

Work experience

· 
Solid KYC experience within a financial institution, with good understanding of KYC requirements for various client types

· 
Experience with conducting KYC where higher risk financial services products and services are being offered to clients

· 
Experience with conducting KYC on clients domiciled in high risk jurisdictions

Education

-Degree (Law degree an advantage)

Languages

-English

-French (or any other languages are a bonus)
