Job description



Position Summary:

Purpose of the role is to provide Data Center Technician 1 (DCT1) support within the data center raised floor environment, this is a pipeline requisition for contract labor positions.

Essential Duties:
· Provides data center raised floor escorting duties as assigned
· Provide Smart Hands to assist with IT Hardware Troubleshooting, Hardware Break/Fix, and Installation/De-installation of IT Hardware Components under system administration direction
· Rack and Stack, patch cabling, and troubleshoot various types of rack mounted hardware
· Assist with support and completion of all scheduled data center MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) – Installation, Labeling, Power/Network Connectivity – Cabling
· Data Center Hardware Asset Management and Auditing
· Tape Operations Support
· Assist with providing input to the Data Center Engineer regarding Data Center service availability, performance, capacity utilization as required
· Daily error log reporting and physical DC inspections for general health, power, cooling, hazards, etc.
· Maintain a safe, clean and secure operating environment within the data center and report any violations to their immediate supervisor
· Maintain site security protocols, badging requirements, and data protection procedures
· Support standard and emergency operating procedures for data center
· Detailed and thorough documentation and record keeping
· Able to review, organize, prioritize, and complete work from a Work Order Ticketing System
· All other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Experience/Qualifications:
·  Technical Certification or equivalent work experience (1 to 2 years' experience) working in a data center
·  Basic knowledge of (Windows and UNIX (AIX, LINUX, Solaris) SSH, RDP, Putty) is preferred
·  Basic knowledge of Mainframe (zOS/MVS/JES, Tape Subsystems) is preferred
·  Basic knowledge of data center building infrastructure (CRACS, GENS, PDUs, UPS)
·  Basic knowledge of electrical concepts (Power Distribution, Redundancy, Power Cabling)
·  Basic knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Management tools
·  Hands on experience working with IT Infrastructure (Racks, Powers Strips, Servers, Network Hardware)
·  Basic working knowledge of copper and fiber infrastructure installation and testing
·  Must be able to work at heights, using a ladder and in confined spaces , lift and/or move 50 to 75 lbs.
·  Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones
·  Works On call and OT as required.
·  Minimum of one week per month of on call
·  Able to work in a 24/7 environment with flexible shifts/days
