Position Title: Technologist

Department: DTPPD Upstream

Duration: Temporary - 3 Year Contract

Site/Department : Toronto, Ontario

Major Activities of the Job:

 

Detoxification and Purification of Diphtheria Toxin / Toxoid:

·  Primary operator for the validated cleaning, rinsing of process related equipment.
·  Primary operator for the preparation, inspection and release of purification equipment for toxin / toxoid processing,
·  Primary operator for the recovery of ammonium-sulphate precipitated toxin using crude filtration with a secondary operator.
·  Primary operator of the dialysis of toxin using membrane dialysis for ammonium sulphate removal in cold room.

 

Purification of Tetanus Toxoid:

·  Primary operator for the validated cleaning, rinsing of process related equipment.
·  Primary operator for the preparation, inspection and release of purification equipment for toxin / toxoid processing.
·  Primary operator for the recovery of ammonium-sulphate precipitated toxin using crude filtration with a secondary operator.
·  Primary loading, balancing and operation of centrifuges.

Preparation of Tuberculin PPD:

·  Primary operator for the inspection and release of purification equipment for the toxin / toxoid processing.
·  Primary preparation of hazardous diluents, critical final filters and process related equipment for PPD production.
·  Primary inspector for the process related equipment prior to use.
·  Formulation and sampling of non-replaceable (dry powder cannot be replaced) stock solution and final bulk in clean room with a secondary technologist.

 

Purification, Clean Room, and toxin recovery area monitoring and testing:

·  Primary preparation of QO approved disinfectants for cleaning applications.
·  Primary preparation of rooms (including clean rooms) for sampling and environmental monitoring.
·  Prepare and sample EM as outlined by SOP. Monitor and perform EM as required as per product, per week, per bi-week, per-month.
·  Entry of EM in Master.

 

Documentation of activities and SPC data entry:

·  Concurrent BPR entry and checking of calculations.
·  Data entry into SPC database for SPC trending.
·  Organization of batch records.
·  Monitoring of cleanroom, incubator and refrigerator logs.

SAP and EM Data Entry:

·  Data entry for SAP manufacturing processes and maintenance orders.
·  Issuance and creation of process orders.
·  Maintenance of material adjustment forms.
·  Maintenance of inventory.

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Minimum four (4) years Bachelors Degree (Microbiology, Bio-chemistry) along with a minimum of 6 months of previous relevant work experience
·  Working knowledge of the following: Aseptic and Clean room Techniques; Protein Purification, Quality Operations; Mechanical and processing techniques
·  Strong Organization and Coordinating skills, to ensure all job activities are performed on schedule
·  Excellent verbal and written Communication skills
·  Ability to work within a team environment
