Job description



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·  Lead, coach and manage subordinate(s) to provide quality legal support to the daily operations for all relevant functions of GEM business in China;

·  Proactively contribute from legal perspective to company-wide and cross-funtion projects for GEM business excellence, process optimization and operating model changes;

·  Negotiate, handle and approve contracts and other legal documentation for critical or complex projects for GEM excellence;

·  Develop bilingual templates of contracts or other legal documents for complicated projects or innovative projects;

·  Monitor a thorough understanding of the legal development, perform legal research, communicate with various government authorities to understand the most recent regulatory developments, and advise various functional departments on the legal interpretation, implications and opportunities for the company's operations;

·  Engage business leaders (function heads and director level) to promote risk prevention mindset for daily business operations;

·  Lead effective discussions with members of other teams, when needed, to identify the specific needs and maintain consistency of legal standards to meet local business requirements with limited and bearable risk;

·  Establish, review and improve legal-related policies and/or procedures periodically regarding the business opeartions in his/her responsibility to ensure the policies and/or procedures in line with the development of business operation, the guideline of global policies and applicable laws and regulations;

·  Lead coordination effectively with the Global Legal Department to identify the needs and obtain effective support to meet the local business requirement;

·  Support department head on government investigation and risk management, if needed;

·  Handle local legal disputes through negotiation, mediation or litigation;

·  Monitor and supervise external counsels;

·  Develop training plan and provide legal training to staff; and

·  Other tasks as designated by line manager or department head.

JOB-HOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor degree in PRC law or above

Experience & knowledge:

At least 9 years experience in reputable law firm or multi-national company (law firm experience is a must); familiar with operations of pharmaceutical industry, foreign direct investment, contract and general corporate legal work; experience in supporting distribution and bidding as well as digital and innovative projects in pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

Core competencies:

·  PRC Bar Qualification;
·  Good understanding of PRC law, sound business acumen and commercial awareness and practical-oriented, ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively, ability to provide solution-oriented legal advices;
·  Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese (written & verbal);
·  Computer literacy, familiar with all Microsoft applications;
·  Hard-working, detail-minded, clear thinker, quick learner, team player, self-motivated and ability to work independently under pressure with minimum supervision; and
·  People management skills.
