The Summer @ Roche Intern Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to network with other interns as well as employees in the organization. Additionally, we help our students meet their career development and educational goals while potentially building a future with the Roche organization. Leveraging the education you received already, we hope to give you an opportunity to grow and develop with us!

Program Requirements:

· 
Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university during program calendar year 2021.

· 
Completed at least 2 years of college/university to be eligible for the program.

· 
Must have a ≥3.0 GPA; pl ease attach a copy of your transcript in order to be considered for this internship opportunity.

· 
Minimum availability of 12 weeks (Required start on or before program Welcome Reception and end date on or after Summer End Poster Symposium).

· 
Previous experience in the job duties listed, either through course work or industry/academia.

· 
Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience.

Responsibilities:

We believe in taking a multidisciplinary & multidimensional look at biological markers from patients as they go through their disease and treatment. Exciting scientific advances in the human health/diagnostics field are generated in part with genomics and advanced analytics.

In the collaboration between science and IT we are looking for a bright and enthusiastic R&D IT Intern to work on a system to process genomic data and collocate other Roche Diagnostics data for in-depth analysis required for advanced analytics. Our goal is to integrate genomics data from research with clinical outcomes data to help enable further novel research into both biomarker discovery and establish clinical utility of known biomarkers. In this position you will be assisting development team members in deriving insights from the data using R, Python, and other tools. In addition, you have a strong enough foundation in analytical methodologies to help the teams work on designs and implementation of analytical solutions.

Qualifications:

· 
Masters in Health Informatics, Bioinformatics or Information Technology with focus on analytics and data

· 
Experience in Python, R, Jupiter, software development and working on HPCs

· 
Understanding of data management topics included but not limited to (data catalogs, meta data, data analytics)

· 
Experience in implementing computations using R for statistical and visual analysis

· 
Familiarity with graph database models advantageous

Advanced analytical techniques and data tracking best practices

· 
Learn about complex systems in regulated environments and cloud computing

· 
Learn about the Data Analytics using AWS Cloud services that enable rapid deployment of Data Lakes

· 
Learn about High performance Clustering and how to use it to derive genomics insights

· 
Learn to use DevOps tools such as Terraform and Chef to enable rapid and reliable deployment of cloud infrastructure.

· 
Learn how to deploy workflow managers such as Nextflow and Cromwell and how to execute containerized bioinformatics workflows on AWS.

· 
Learn how to deploy data analytics and machine learning tools such as PyTorch and Jupiter Notebooks to perform custom analytics on genomics data.

Given the current uncertainty of the global pandemic and work from home situation for 2021, the majority of internships are currently planned to be virtual with the option for interns to work remotely from within U.S. borders. Internships that operate in business critical roles, such as Operations and Research & Development may require you to work on campus. We will keep candidates informed if this changes.
