We are curently seeking a Leather Designer to join dunhill's studios across London & Scandicci.

 

The Leather Designer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for every element of the lifecycle of the product category from initial design concept to product sign off. This is measured against an agreed design/development brief and critical path with the ultimate aim of delivering creative and commercial collections to enhance the brand DNA.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

·  Research and development (in conjunction with: Collection Director and Product Development Manager) of core and seasonal leather collections which comprise of large leather goods, small leather goods and belts
·  Creation of mood boards and assisting in the production of any presentation tools required in line with company strategy
·  Responsible for design and the ongoing management of the design development process based on brief
·  Have a strong understanding of the men’s luxury goods market and who the key competitors and references are for dunhill
·  To liaise and co-ordinate with the Product Development Manager on every stage of the development process
·  Assist Product Development Manager with ordering and chasing of swatches & raw materials for new developments
·  To interface with Quality Manager with regards to raw material specifications, technical construction and the suitability of leather/fabric/hardware for end use
·  To interface regularly with Merchandise team to ensure strong knowledge of sales patterns in all markets
·  Ensure a consistency of look within the all the leather categories
·  To establish and maintain an archive of potential leather and hardware options
·  To liaise continually with menswear and hard product designers to ensure synergy between all product categories
·  Assist with presentations of collections as required
·  Assist with the merchandising of showrooms as required
·  Assist with the styling of the collection for shows, presentations and marketing/promotional tools as required.
·  Visit suppliers & attend relevant trade fairs as necessary

 

Ideal Candidate:

 

·  4/5 years of proven experience in the business
·  Strong interested in the industry with knowledge of competitors.
·  Able to communicate and transfer design's to model maker
·  Knowledge of leather construction
·  Knowledge of techniques to be used on leather and canvas
·  Fluent in Italian and English - preferable
·  Willing to travel often - role will be based mainly in Italy and partly London 
·  Experienced using Photoshop and Illustrator
