about the role

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide strong executive and legal support to the Head of SEA and other members of the SEA Management Team on all business operations and activities of Orange Business Services in SEA.

Consolidate/restructure existing Orange Business Services legal entities in SEA, and handling all corporate secretarial matters in relation to such entities.

Provide effective legal support to the sales teams in SEA in RFP responses, contract preparation and negotiation and debt collection matters.

Provide strategic advice and guidance to Orange Business Services management on future business expansion in SEA.

Provide general legal advice and support to other non-sales functions within SEA.

Effectively manage all litigation matters and disputes and liaising with outside counsel, including developing and implementing appropriate risk-mitigation strategies in relation to Orange Business Services’s business operations and activities in SEA.

In coordination with Orange Business Services’s global ethics and compliance programme, provide appropriate advice and training to the SEA Management Team and the Orange Business Services staff in SEA on related corporate governance matters.

Manage all intellectual property matters for Orange Business Services in SEA and work closely with Orange global IPR team in resolving IPR infringement matters.

about you

The ideal candidate should have an excellent academic background with a good law degree from a reputable university. He/she should be qualified in Singapore with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience.

The ideal candidate should have a good mixture of private practice and in-house MNC experience in the telecommunications industry. Individuals who have worked in an international MNC / law firm (in the IT/telecoms practice) will enjoy a distinct advantage as will those with a good working knowledge of the telecommunications industry, practices and trends in SEA.

The candidate must be experienced in commercial/transactional negotiations, particularly in cross-cultural, cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions.

An excellent command of English, both spoken and written is a prerequisite.  Proficiency in  Mandarin is a distinct advantage.

In addition, the candidate should also possess the following skills:

Strategic Leadership: Outstanding strategic capabilities and leadership and demonstrated intellectual prowess; someone who is motivated by solving complex legal and regulatory issues and who understands the dynamics amongst different governmental organisations in SEA, and their impact on the daily business operations and activities in Orange Business Services. Also requires solid experience in handling and responding effectively in relation to controversial issues in the fast-changing telecommunications environment in SEA.

Critical Thinking and Effective Communication: Ability to deal effectively with members of the Orange Business Services SEA Management Team with the presence and credibility to secure support, buy-in, and enthusiasm internally and externally for a course of action. Must also possess excellent relationship building and networking skills. Ability to influence and work cross functionally, and strong experience in working on cross-cultural, cross-border and multi-jurisdiction transactions. 

Solutions Orientation:  Clear focus and ability to achieve Orange Business Services’s business goals through proactive, creative and effective legal/regulatory/strategic advice. He/she must also have a keen sense of teamwork and ability to build trust and respect with other team members across multiple geographies and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

This role provides a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to be part of a dynamic Legal team in Asia Pacific, and also to shape the strategy and direction of the future of Orange Business Services in South East Asia (SEA).

The position will be based in Singapore.  The position will provide leadership in the management of all legal matters for Orange Business Services in SEA and will also be closely aligned and interface regularly with the Orange Business Services Head of SEA and other members of the Orange Business Services SEA Management Team.

The ideal candidate must have exceptional leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills, a dynamic personality and a strong background in providing top-notch legal advice in SEA.  Occasional regional travel within SEA is expected.
