About the role

M&S Food is changing, and fast! We are transforming the M&S food business to be more relevant, more often to more people.

As a Franchise Commercial Planner you will be joining a fast paced and exciting area within the Food Group, you will play a key role in identifying and driving opportunities to drive sales & availability in a profitable manner. This will involve co-ordinating and executing the delivery of our strategy in conjunction with the Franchise Commercial Manager, Regional Commercial Manager and Franchise partner.

Working collaboratively with the Franchise Category teams to help manage the complexities of regional and store performance delivering the most accurate product placement possible with an additional focus on peak seasonal events. In addition you will be taking the lead for a specific category ensuring that UK Franchise is being represented realising all commercial opportunities.

You will be required to build up expert knowledge of both the store estate and internal processes and systems, analyse regional and store level performance and make appropriate actions for forecasting purposes. What the role will involve

·  To understand, articulate and deliver the UK Franchise strategy and bring our vision to life by accurately applying the principles in store and regional level actions
·  Accountable for driving the sales performance of your region by managing the availability and waste targets to drive positive like for like business performance
·  Identify and agree focus stores (in conjunction with Regional Commercial Manager and Trading Manager) and drive improvements to deliver results
·  Co-ordinate store level forecasting for major events including Summer and Christmas
·  Exploit business reporting solutions to provide periodic Stage & Gate/Regional/Store trend analysis and daily commentary on performance to assist in forecasting decisions
·  Work closely with Category planners, Regional Commercial Managers and Franchise partners that deliver the improvement in commercial performance through detailed probing, store visits and building strong relationships
·  Provide support for stores impacted by new competitors opening or closing
·  Respond to daily feedback from Franchise partners, by probing business tools such as FAQT, CSSM and Q forecasting tool
·  Liaise with Foods logistics to support stores, when they are experiencing disruption such as road works and engineering works

The person we’re looking for

·  Will be able to analysis commercial and customer information to seize commercial opportunities
·  An good understanding of retail and our competitors
·  Able to problem solve / resolve complex issues
·  Excellent presentation and internal/external stakeholder management skills
·  Is competent using Excel and FAQT
·  Has a good knowledge of business systems and business process such as Q and CSSM.
