Job description

The position provides support to all Kuehne + Nagel Projects, Oil & Gas, Marine Logistics business unit in handling the transportation of special cargo that fall within the required transport compliance requirements.

Your Role

The position provides support to all Kuehne + Nagel Projects, Oil & Gas, Marine Logistics business unit in handling the transportation of special cargo that fall within the required transport compliance requirements.

Your Responsibilities

•    Conducting or providing guidance to execute    route surveys, issue detailed report of recommended transport routes, highlighting obstacles and narrow passages en route to final point of destination, providing pictures (from air and/or ground), illustrations, distance measurements, measures for removal or bypassing of obstacles, civil works or backfilling requirements.

•    Conducting or providing guidance for conducting feasibility studies, issue detailed report containing evaluation of infrastructure upgrades / modification for heavy haulage feasibility.

•    Methodology and safety procedures that are to be deployed by KN PROM to conduct operations utilizing suitable equipment in compliance within the framework of all applicable national and international legislative regulations, codes of practice, best practice, company policy and customer’s safety expectations.

•    Determine crane capacity, lifting methods (basket lift, tandem lift etc.), onsite installation / placement onto foundation methods (craneage, jacking and skidding, sliding etc.) based on vendor drawings, port/vessel/barge or site conditions, provision of AutoCAD drawings for lifting operations sea and land (e.g. lifting by ship’s or shore crane, jobsite cargo lift/erection).

•    Supervising and coordinating of cargo loading/discharging (e.g. at supplier location, port, rail terminal, laydown area), and of jobsite installation/placement onto foundation.

•    Verification and approval of third party Method Statements, drawings and calculations.

•    Provision of general technical AutoCAD drawings for surface transportation, description of transport methods (e.g. from manufacturer to port, roll-on/roll-off, destination port to jobsite).

•    Creating, editing and evaluating lashing calculations for transport by various means such as barges, vessels, trailers, rail cars etc. by using common industry standards.

•    Breakdown of lifting approach (e.g. providing detailed overview of lifting equipment capacities with applicable safety factors).

•    Provision of general technical AutoCAD drawings for vessel / barge stowage plan.

•    Technical consultancy/advice to customers (KN PROM), e.g. recommendation for location of lashing points and lifting lugs / trunnions prior to equipment fabrication.

•    Recommendation for choosing suitable equipment, such as crane types (telescopic, crawler, tower systems etc.), trailer configurations (conventional multi-axle lines, self-propelled modular trailers etc.) based on vendor drawings, route and site conditions, and handling equipment (shackles, slings, connectors, turntables, stools and beams, load spreaders, ramps etc.).

Your Skills and Experiences

•    Bachelor degree in Marine / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
•    Profound knowledge with common industry standards such as, but not limited to:
-    IMO Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing
-    DNVGL Rules and Standards
-    IMO/ILO/UNECE Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units (CTU-code)
-    ECS (European Committee for Standardization)
-    AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction)
-    ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)
-    FMSCA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration)
•    Excellent CAD skills preferred with AutoCAD
•    Structural analysis e.g. FE-analysis and knowledge of steel composition and behavior
•    Proven organizational and management skills and abilities.
•    Strong  industry knowledge of the project, oil + gas and marine logistics
•    Professional education within Logistics / Freight Forwarding with proven experience in air, sea, overland, chartering and heavy lifts transportation.
•    Minimum 8 to 10 years operational management experience
•    Willingness for extensive travel within the region
