Duties & Responsibilities
Our Industrial Placement Programme within Concept Store Design will make you see retail in a new light. Our unique Partnership and different approach to business will enable you to get the most out of your placement year. Our placements combine hands on experience with real projects. You will also receive relevant on the job training.
The purpose of our Concept Store Design Team is to create design solutions (including interiors, equipment and graphical solutions) for new in-store developments across all Waitrose Formats (including Convenience, Home, Food Service, E-commerce and Business-to-Business) ensuring the designs are optimised through the quality of the in-store environment created and commercial effectiveness of the store.
Job Requirements
In the role of Industrial Placement - Concept Store Design, you'll use your creative skills to support the Senior Concept Design Manager in the development of new concept designs. You'll also play a key role in the maintenance of design standards, details and guidelines creation.
You'll work collaboratively with key colleagues to manifest the above in the delivery of inspiring store environments through the ongoing optimisation of design, planning, space utilisation and cost efficiency.
As part of your role you'll have accountability for a number of varying tasks including;
- Support the Concept Design Managers in the development and delivery of interpreting and constructing clear design briefs within timelines and budgets (including interiors, finishes, signage and equipment)
- Ensure design standards are maintained and documented appropriately
- Brief internal and external design resources including agencies, copywriters and other suppliers to deliver creative and innovative retail design solutions
- Actively promote continuous personal development
Internally this role is known as - Industrial Placement - Assistant Concept Designer.
Required essential experience skills and qualifications
The minimum application requirements are as follows:
As part of your degree in design or similar associated degree you must be able to take a year out in industry starting July 2020
The assessment centre for this role will be held in November 2019
