InterContinental Hayman Island Resort in the Great Barrier Reef is an ultra-luxury private island resort that has recently undergone refurbishment. With the resort reopening to guests mid 2019, we are seeking engaged and motivated professionals to be a part of our growing team. We currently have a rare opportunity for a Landscaping Trades Assistant  to join the team on island for this exciting journey!

Your day to day

If you'd like to embrace a wider world of experiences and opportunities, we'd like to welcome you to the world's most international luxury hotel brand as an on Island Landscaping Trades Assistant a key role in our dynamic live on island team. Reporting to the Landscaping Manager this role supports our Landscape Gardeners to ensure our gardens, surrounding landscape, drains/beaches and guest areas are kept to a high standard and looking vibrant and in high-quality condition. 

Your key duties and responsibilities will include assisting the Landscape Gardeners to:

·  Maintain all of the resorts landscaping to keep it in lush and tidy condition
·  Organising supplies and making sure equipment is ready for the next day
·  Executing the preventative maintenance strategy in place
·  Taking responsibility for the safety and cleanliness of areas around the entire resort whilst keeping your duty manager in the loop and telling them about any low running supplies
·  Ensuring all tasks required are executed to maintain compliance with state and commonwealth legislation, and local council laws
What we need from you

To be successful in this role you will ideally have practical experience and exposure to landscaping, Horticulture and Garden Maintenance or a highly physical environment. On top of building equipment and hand tools, you ideally will need to have a working knowledge of basic irrigation and plant knowledge. You must have great communication skills, be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to. You will have an understanding of Microsoft Office, Email and other reporting tools like HotSos and HardCat.  

It is essential you hold a current Australian driver’s license and a Queensland safety induction White Card alongside meeting the legal requirements to work in this country.
