MSSQL & MYSQL Database Administrator

Job description

This position will work on multiple customer projects as part of a Database Support team with primary work involving the operational physical database administration, migrations and setup of database environments across platforms. The position will participate in team or company projects as required, maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of existing best practices in database, provide on-call support and also migrations, design, and implementation, capacity planning. This position will support MYSQL and MSSQL databases across multiple platforms, along with the management of backup & recovery, replication and high availability features. Additional responsibilities include: improvements of database integrity through quality assurance and manages change control processes related the SQL database environment.　

Essential Job Responsibilities: 　
Work as a collaborative member in a Database Support Services team. The following key activities will also be required:
- Migrations, moves and cloning of databases and environments.
- Technical Configuration changes of database environments.
- Configuration / Management of HA and DR capabilities in database environments, including replication and clustering technologies.
- Testing of Replication, Backup and Recovery (including Disaster Recovery).
- Performance tuning, alerting & monitoring, server configuration.
- Assessment and analysis of database environments.
- Participate in capacity management and planning activities.
- Platform layout changes for database hosting.
- Implement and utilize the Release and Change Management as well as other ITIL processes.
- Working with application developers to integrate efforts with relational databases.
- Database Reporting.

Your responsibilities will include as well:
Research, recommend and implement automation methods to proactively manage databases.
Perform database design tasks related to the structure of a database including analysis, logical data model review, and physical database design.
Implement monitoring procedures to maximize availability and performance of the database.
Work with third party vendors to review installation prerequisites, database sizing, and support database installation of the product
Participate and/or take a lead role with the infrastructure and database configurations/changes, upgrades and etc. that are moderately complex in nature with a high level of proficiency.

- 3+ years as MYSQL and MSSQL DBA experience
- Highly motivated to solve problems efficiently.
- Fast troubleshooting and resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with DBA and application teams
- Experience in a 24X7 production environment
- Strong query and database tuning skills
- Capacity monitoring and management capabilities
- Experience in Windows, Linux and Unix
