Job Description:

   

As an engineer in the Pointnext Services Global Labs Organization, you will be a member of a team responsible for technical investigation, analysis, replication and resolution of complex customer problems, and product defects elevated through the Global Labs. Problem investigation will include analysis of data collected from the customer cases which may include, but is not limited to configuration setup, software and hardware log files, and network configuration and logs.  This is an entry level position as and engineering on the Global Labs team working with senior Lab Technical Specialists to help stage environments on multi-vendor platforms in the Global Lab.  The work will include hands-on hardware and software installations on different platforms in the Lab.  This position will give the candidate an opportunity to learn multiple Operating Systems and variety of Hewlett Packard Enterprise products while doing hands-on installation of systems in racks and to load operating systems with minimal supervision. Experienced Lab Technical Specialist will always be available to mentor and answer questions.  However, this position will sometimes be expected to work alone and independently as a team member.   As a member of the Global Lab Team, the position will contribute to the business process activities as it relates to the Lab work and be motivated to learn and ask questions to grow in the job.

The job family spans across multiple engineering disciplines. Work consists of developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research and/or research development of product, services, and solutions for the company’s portfolio. Requires a broad knowledge and application of engineering disciplines, methodologies and tools.

Responsibilities:

·  Designs portions of engineering solutions utilizing multiple engineering disciplines for products, systems, software, and solutions based on established engineering principles and in accordance with provided specifications and requirements
·  Implements established test plans for existing designs, including validation of mechanical, electrical, software, and other engineering specifications and requirements.
·  Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on engineering design and development.
·  Participates as a member of project team of other engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for low to moderately- complex products.
·  Provide day-to-day support and maintenance of the Lab infrastructure and network environment.
·  Assist other lab team members in the implementation of various testing and training for various technology environments.
·  Position requires some physical activity moving computer equipment, i.e. install a server into a rack.
·  As a Lab team member, be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
·  May be asked to contribute to the business process activities of the Lab team.
·  May be required to work an extended shift and/or work a flexible work schedule (24x7) for on call or standby rotations.

Education and Experience Required:

·  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or other Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
·  Typically 0-2 years experience.
· 
At a minimum, knowledge of Operating Systems, SAN/Storage, and Network environments. 

· 
Experience with one or more operating systems and common applications helpful

· 
Knowledge of Server and software installations helpful.

· 
Experience problem replication, testing and data analysis a plus

· 
Ability to provide hands-on hardware and software installations on a variety of different platforms in the Lab as well as provide migration testing as needed with assistance from more experienced resources.

· 
Familiar with the SAN / Network / Server environments and how they are configured, maintained, and managed. 

· 
Participate in the installation of new equipment as required working with the Global Lab Team in support of Technology Services activities.

· 
Familiar working with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, VmWare and all related hardware platforms.

· 
Work will include installing systems in racks, loading and configuring operating systems with minimal supervision.

Knowledge and Skills:

·  Experience or understanding of appropriate engineering design tools and software packages.
·  Good analytical and problem solving skills.
·  Basic understanding of material properties and hardware and electrical component design.
·  Good written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
