Role Summary/Purpose

As an UX Interaction Designer, you will partner with the cross functional team (product managers, developers and business partners) to drive the design of experiences that transform the way people use GE Gas Power products. Your role is multi-disciplinary, delivering value in the form of design decisions. You lead design and represent the user by emphasizing with people to help solve users’ problems and find cutting edge solutions.
Essential Responsibilities

We are designing cutting edge applications to improve usability and efficiency.

In this role, you will:

Deliver effective, innovative, high quality UX design solutions that push the design envelope forward for GE Gas Power product experiences.
Collaborate with stakeholders to balance user, business, and technical requirements, and ensure that design recommendations are incorporated within standard products.
Proactively understanding the unmet needs of customers and end users by participating in formal research activities across the product lifecycle.
Applying user research toward creating intuitive, functional, and visually appealing user interfaces.
Representative deliverable's include workflows, wireframe designs, and interactive prototypes.
Creating and executing design principles to ensure cohesiveness of UX workflow and visual aesthetic across the portfolio, including consistency with the uniform design system.
Rapidly prototype and evaluate designs with internal teams and customers including wireframes, low/mid-fidelity interactive mockups and other UX deliverable's.
Create and refine use cases, scenarios, paper and interactive prototypes, storyboards, and design specifications for new features.
Actively partner with other UX design teams to incorporate digital interfaces within their designs, all with an eye towards driving user delight, ease of use, safety, and HW/SW harmonization.
Collaborating with software engineering teams to create and execute platform-level architecture strategies and software development toolkit's that enable implementation of established design principles.
Translating concepts and prototypes into formal design requirements and specifications documents.
Demo wireframes to all the stakeholders
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction, Graphic, or Industrial Design preferred or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
• Prior experience required

You must be able to able to thrive in a fast paced, competitive environment and at times navigate ambiguous and highly-matrixed environments.
Experience designing interactions for complex systems.
Experience creating wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes with common UX design tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Balsamiq...etc.
Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various colors, fonts and layouts.
Attention to visual details Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with a team.
Experience working in an Agile development process.
Excellent communication skills
A background in enterprise software platforms and tools
Conducts user research to understand user needs, mental models, and working contexts
Synthesizes output of stakeholder research & creates visualizations that effectively summarize key insights related to user and customer needs and behaviors, product definition
Experience conducting usability testing across a wide range of user groups

Prototyping:
Skilled in standard design tools (Sketch, Adobe CC), and visual communication, familiar with time-based and interactive prototyping tools (InVision, Keynote)
Creates annotated prototypes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate
the behavior of a software application
Leverages typography, color, layout, composition and materiality to create visual interface designs that clearly and effectively express product capabilities and behaviors, as well as business and product brand values
Creates visual design specifications and documentation that provide detailed instructions for developers regarding typography, spacing, color and other aspects of a product’s user interface
Designs new components to contribute to design systems, documents intended usage
