Role Summary/Purpose
As Quality Engineer, you will be aid in ensuring the overall quality of all Grid Solutions AC Systems Project deliverables; including internal and external customer deliverables. This will be accomplished through: hands on design quality checks, project audits and quality initiatives. In this role you will work to solve problems and execute project quality objectives.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Quality Engineer, you will:
· Assist in implementing a First Pass Yield program for NAM Grid Solutions AC Systems while building a broader follow-on Engineering Effectiveness Program
· Implement standard Quality Control and Quality Assurance reviews for NAM Grid Solutions AC Systems
· Drive integrated quality methodology, processes and documentation to facilitate productivity and customer satisfaction
· Provided project coordination and interface with customer quality managers for assigned projects / programs
· Support Engineering Leads in owning GE’s approach to customer-specific designs and CAD standards, Quality Standards, Procedures, and Metrics
· Work with Engineering Leads, and the customer-specific engineering team(s) on executing to schedule and budget for customer & internal projects
· Work with Engineering Leads and Automation Leader to define & drive design automation tool development for the customer
· Perform RCA’s (root cause analysis) and execute corrective actions.
· Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders and support organizations to drive quality performance
· Maintain lessons learned sharing and implementation
· Support NAM AC Systems operating rhythm and dashboard for reviews highlighting project quality results
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university
· Minimum of 1 year in a quality role
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
· Must be willing and available to travel including internationally
· Must be willing to comply with all relevant GE company travel and tax policies
Desired Characteristics
· Design or design related experience in utility Power Systems
· Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite of tools, and familiarity with Bentley MicroStation and Substation
· Knowledge of business acumen and understanding of the mission and scope of business objectives
· Six Sigma Green Belt certified
· Ability to act as a change agent
· Familiarity with CAP – Change Acceleration Processes.
· Professional presence in front of customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as Project Management
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to present ideas to stakeholders to generate buy-in and build credibility with engineering teams
