Job Description

The Power Electronics Internship Engineer role belongs to a multicultural, multigeneration and diverse Power Electronics team. The Power Electronics team is a branch of the Global Engineering as the System team, the Automation team, and the Design office are.

If you are dreaming and passionate to design and/or control Low, Middle and High Voltage Power Electronics converters; which deliver high performance (better than 98% of efficiency) in an environment with condensation risks, with high vibrations (Marinized converters), Shock proved, Arc flash proved; for Industry, Oil and Gaz, Marine or Military application, with accuracy and precision better than the unit percent, and you are willing to push your limits and the technology limits, this is the right opportunity, the right team in a company with culture, ethics and ambitions as GE Vernova.

This intern will:
•    Gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment. 
•    Work alongside experienced engineers on cutting-edge power electronics projects.
•    Work on real-world projects with the potential to make a significant impact.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in the New Product Introduction process of Medium Voltage Drives.
  • Assist with drafting technical reports and presentations.
  • Participate in projects related to power electronics technologies.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of power electronics control systems using simulation tools and RTS.
  • Stay up-to-date on advancements in power electronics technology.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor/Master of Science program in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental electrical engineering concepts (circuits, electromagnetics, power systems).
  • Familiarity with power electronics principles (converters, switching devices, control techniques).
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).  
  • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process 
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships 
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license 
  • Must be willing to work in geographical area specified by the business 
  • Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship

Desired Characteristics

  • Autonomous, curious with the ability to understand new concepts, coach other engineers, and integrate into a team.
  • Experience on MMC, multilevel VSI, LCI, DC drives and Cycloconverter
  • Experience on Variable Speed application, STATCOM, or active filtering

Relocation Assistance:

Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.

Housing Allowance:

Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
