Role Summary/Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide metrology expertise for the quality function and all product lines at the Batesville site. Additionally, this position has responsibility for the maintenance, programming, and inspection of metrology equipment, as well as data analysis / reporting, and assistance with software quality assurance for metrology inspection equipment in production.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Do all programming for the metrology inspection equipment – CMM’s (including a Zeiss MMZ G 40 50 25), Laser Tracker, Romer Arm, etc.

·  Work on all fixturing and fixture design needs for metrology inspection equipment

·  Perform all routine annual outsourcing of calibration for metrology inspection equipment

·  Conduct all routine quarterly verifications of the metrology inspection equipment using artifact checks

·  (S-071)

·  Manage CMM accessories inventory (Styli inventory, etc.)

·  Work on Tip builds and tip calibration / verification

·  Conduct data analysis and reporting / communicating / interpreting results for the team

·  Mentor / train the metrology assistant and others operating production CMMs

·  Conduct independent checks to validate primary inspection methods

·  Assist with software quality assurance for metrology inspection equipment in production including acquiring objective evidence for program revisions

·  Perform annual calibration checks of hard gauges

·  Must have flexibility in schedule to work an offshift position

Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum of High School Diploma 
• Minimum of 3 years of practical skills and knowledge within a manufacturing environment 

 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S): 
• ANSI / ASME Y14.5-1994 based drawings 
• Programming and operating metrology inspection equipment 
• Using hard gauges and optical comparator 
• Prepping CAD (Pulling From Teamcenter, converting to IGES, layer manipulation, in CAD measurements) 
• Working with others that need metrology data to resolve tooling, hard gauge, part, process, etc. issues 
• 3D trigonometry and displacement / positioning vectors 
• Iterative alignments 
• Producing operator friendly production program interfaces and reports - including use of color and graphics to show results 
• Initial diagnostics of metrology equipment issues 
• Best fit alignments 
• Ability and willingness to work an offshift position

Desired Characteristics

·  High School Diploma required - Higher Education Degree in a Technical Discipline from an accredited school is preferred

·  Familiarity with inspecting things that are large, cylindrical / conical, with many repetitive features, and 3D contours

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong presentation and facilitation skills

·  Previous MS Office Suite experience (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
