Role Summary/Purpose

The Mechanical Components Aeromechanics Engineer provides direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Develop FEA models of rotor & stator airfoils (compressors and turbines) and perform vibration analysis in support of new engine designs and fielded products

·  Disposition nonconforming airfoils via vibration analysis to support engine delivery and field issues

·  Support and enhance the development of aeromechanics analytical tools to improve productivity within the discipline

·  Monitor aeromechanics testing of aircraft engines / rigs / components, including instrumentation definition (light probes & strain gauges), data post-processing / trending, and model correlations to test data

·  Prepare reports and present to engineering leadership and engine program customers

·  Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

·  Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

·  Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

·  Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews

·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university 
Desired Characteristics

·  Analytical experience in aeroelasticy and vibration

·  Experience with ANSYS mechanical

·  Familiarity with CFD (computational fluid dynamics)

·  Experience applying test instrumentation and summarizing data

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Effective problem identification and solution skills

·  Proven analytical and organizational ability
