Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE's Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

Organization:

The meteo analyst will be part of an extended team of market analysts who sit on the trading floor. Targeting superior energy market knowledge, we build independent analyses and provide positions to give to GEM & Engie a competitive advantage . ­­­

Role:

As meteo analyst you will analyze multiple sources of weather forecasts to develop his own opinion. You will contribute to activities related to weather forecast of the main variables impacting energy markets: energy consumption as well as renewable production. You will support the energy market analysts, the traders and GEM front entities to develop directional market views and maximize the portfolio value.

Main Activities:

Your activities will cover the following:

·  Develop close relationship with traders and provide some real time support with a specific focus on Portugal and Spain weather and hydrology.
·  Set up and publish regular and ad-hoc reports including inflow forecasting for GEM/ENGIE portfolio.
·  Contribute to the roadmap for future evolution of models and tools anticipating business needs. Take ongoing responsibility for business impact of these models.
·  Support weather data management and spread good practices.
·  Promote team spirit and collaboration.

Travels:

·  Travel on regular basis

Education and professional background:

·  Graduated with a Master degree in (Engineering, Mathematics, etc.)
·  In depth understanding of Numerical Weather Prediction models and weather data
·  Experience in weather forecast analysis in an energy business context Hard skills:

·  Analytical and programming skills in Python (and/or R) Soft skills:

·  Good communication skills: ability to explain and convey messages about complex issues and models; ability to work in multi-cultural environment.

·  Team spirit Languages:

·  Fluent in Portuguese and English is a must
·  Knowledge of Spanish is a strong added value
