Danone North America is looking for a Warehouse Material Handler in Springfield, Oregon.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Material Handler is responsible for performing duties associated with making sure production has the right materials and ingredients at the right time and removes any excess. The Material Handler de-palletizes and re-palletizes for production, cleans and organizes storage locations, prepares items for recycling, and safely and accurately operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and racks to load/unload, count, move, deliver, transfer, and store materials within production and warehouse operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·  Complies with all food safety, sanitation, and safety requirements.
·  Maintains a safe working environment, functioning as a member of a cooperative cross functional team and safely operates in a production and warehouse environment.
·  Coordinate with production floor to facilitate a smooth supply of raw materials as needed
·  Counts, picks, stages, moves, delivers, stores, ships, and manages inventory materials within normal production and warehouse operations with exceptional accuracy, verifying the correct item, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
·  Physically receive and identify items that need quality inspections.
·  Properly drive and operate multiple types of manual, electric and gas powered pallet jacks and forklifts
·  Initiate and/or participate in process flow improvement initiatives and strategies.
·  Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues.
·  Works with a sense of urgency in varying temperature environments from very hot to very cold.
·  Serves the needs of production and warehousing.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

·  Education and Experience
·  High School diploma or GED equivalent is required, college preferred.
·  Prefer 2 years’ experience in supply chain operations, includingat least one year of forklift operation and warehousing experience, and must obtain a valid forklift operator’s license within two weeks of employment in this position; or equivalent machinery and work experience.
·  Six months of successful work experience that involves accuracy, dependability, and teamwork.
·  Basic computer skills (Keyboarding, Outlook, Excel) and knowledge in the use of SAP and WMS.

·  Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
·  Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work areas.
·  Knowledge and strict adherence to safety programs and procedures, including lockout tagout, confined space, fall restraints, etc.
·  Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, and small group situations, to other employees of the organization. Ability to hear and perceive information at normal spoken word levels
·  Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Possess the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
·  Certified to properly drive and operate multiple types of manual, electric and gas powered pallet jacks and forklifts
·  Need to have an understanding of inventory control procedures and associated accounting impact.
·  Ability to effectively manage relationships based on an open communication and achievement of common objectives.
·  Ability to resolve emergent situations effectively
·  Good communicator, communicating clearly and positively, both verbally and in writing, adapt to new and different situations, read the behavior of other people, compromise to reach agreement, and resolve conflict effectively.
·  Familiar with food production, storage, and transportation concepts, practices, and procedures.

·  Must have the ability to apply commonsense and understanding when carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Must have the ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize and organize various tasks in an environment with competing demands.
·  Must have the ability to demonstrate superb decision-making skills to determine the best course of action when performing the responsibilities of the job
·  Must demonstrate the ability to identify potential challenges within the process and when to notify leadership to prevent process failures
·  Able to work both fixed and flexible schedules including weekends, late shifts and overtime

·  The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 30 pounds,and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.

·  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on or near moving equipment and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration from the operation of equipment. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and may be exposed to loud noises, making wearing of PPE essential. The employee rarely works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold.
