Are you a (Biomedical) Engineer with experience in active medical devices? Do you want to work closely with patients to improve their quality of life?

Nutricia is a leader in medical devices (feeding sets and feeding pumps) for the delivery of enteral nutrition (tube feed) to patients. The impact on the patient wellbeing while using enteral feeding is significant. We aim to keep this burden for our patients as low as possible by applying a user-centric and holistic approach while designing and continuously improving our products. To understand the user needs we encourage the team to reach out to our users via field visits.

As a Product Development Technologist you will be working in a small team located in Utrecht (4) and in Wuxi, China (4). You will report to the Director R&I Medical Devices-eHealth.

About the Job

·  In close cooperation with internal and external partners, developing and improving innovative products, medical devices, digital tools & services (applications) for the delivery of or to support enteral nutrition therapies;
·  Ensuring that the development of new and improved products are delivered on time, comply with regulation and international standards in place and the needs of the end user;
·  Leading design & development projects or work as a team member closely together with operations, marketing and external parties;
·  Following trends in the market related to infusion and transfusion technologies business for enteral feeding and translates these into new products or product improvement programs;
·  Setting up user and design requirements and reporting the design & development progress and reviews as per our QMS in multidisciplinary project teams including Marketing and Operations;
·  Ensuring the Design & Development process is followed for related projects and the Design & Development records are kept up to date;
·  Giving technical support as a specialist towards internal and external stakeholders including customers, key opinion leaders, marketing & sales teams as well as the production facilities;
·  Giving input and supporting the regulatory affairs and QA department delivering R&D data necessary to complete medical technical files for product approvals via notified bodies;

About You

·  BS+ or a Master in life- and/or engineering science (mechatronics) or a similar educational background/experience as a Biomedical engineer is an advantage;
·  3-5 Years of relevant work experience in medical devices development, manufacturing in infusion & transfusion business is desirable, but not a must;
·  Basic understanding of various realisation processes; injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding and assembly, electronics/hardware assembly and the validation of these processes;
·  Familiar with medical devices regulations (MDD/MDR) / device standards (IEC 60601 Electrical Safety) and Quality Management systems standards (ISO 13485:2016), and working according to these;
·  Capable of managing projects and working in project teams with set targets and time frames;
·  Comfortable to work in a dynamic organisation, with various functional disciplines at several (international) locations;
·  Good communication and presentation skills, with fluency in English (knowledge of Dutch languages is preferable);
·  Willing to travel within Europe visiting our customers and suppliers. Travel into China max 1 time per year.
·  You are self motivated, result driven, analytic, creative mind, enthusiastic and a team player.
