Technical Writer

Position Description
CGI Federal is seeking a Tech Writer position to work in our San Diego, CA location. The successful candidate will provide support to NIWC PAC for the Integration Test Facility Support task.

Your future duties and responsibilities
- Edits, standardizes, or makes changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel in a DOD information systems development and integration environment.
- Confers with customer representatives, vendors, executives, or end users to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
- Prepares Test and Evaluation Plans, Procedures, and Reports.
- Prepares Software Development Life Cycle Documentation.
- Prepares information technology and communication systems hardware technical implementation plans and designs.
- Documents software integration laboratory processes and procedures.
- Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Three (3) years experience in preparing technical documentation in accordance with DoD directives. Experience includes the consolidation of inputs from multiple personal to generate informative reports, user manuals, and training documents.
- Knowledge of word processing and database systems.

Additional requirements:
- Ability to successfully complete the CGI Background Investigation to include; 50 State Criminal, Education and Employment; Additionally, your ability to successfully complete a Credit and/or Driving Records Checks may be conducted if required by the contract for continued employment.
- Possession of a DoD SECRET security clearance is required to begin employment; US Citizenship is required.
- Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and experience to appropriately apply a methodology to projects that have reasonably well-defined project requirements and deliverables.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and SharePoint.
- Ability to successfully complete drug testing based on contract requirements.
- Ability to establish working relations at all organizational levels. Demonstrate ability to diplomatically and effectively deal with Government officials and program office stakeholders.
- Self-motivator with ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision or direction.
- Professional oral and written presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.

Desired skills:
- Experience in NIW PAC / US Navy ashore and/or afloat C4I systems development environment.
- Experience in military C4I, communications, and networking systems.
- Experience with practices and guidelines of Department of Defense Instruction 5000.01 and 5000.02.
- Experience in information technology, information systems, and/or communication systems development, integration and operation.
- Experience in graphic design
- Proficient in: MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe FrameMaker, Camtasia Studios or other documentation and graphics software.
