DESCRIPTION

Amazon is continuing to invest in its Amazon Advertising business to tap into the growing online advertising market. Amazon DSP (Demand Side Platform) team focused on display advertising is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to oversee all major initiatives for Amazon DSP including driving the development of core system and feature level functionalities across campaign management, ad serving, creative management etc., international expansion, and API development. Amazon DSP is a self-service portal with managed service option that helps ad agencies and advertisers to reach the right audiences across web and mobile devices with the right message at the right time using Amazon’s proprietary technology.

As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will be leading the technical strategy and program management of Amazon DSP. In this role, you will wear many hats. You must possess a unique combination of the engineering and design experience of a software development manager, together with customer and business acumen, and a do-what-it-takes approach to providing whatever is needed to make your program successful.

You will work closely with the engineering, and product management team in delivering on our product investments. You will be excellent at getting results, being able to coordinate large, multi-functional projects on-time, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints. You define or review the systems-level technical design of your projects and balance near term business need with long term implications for Amazon DSP. You manage cross-functional communication to ensure all business and technical stakeholder’s needs are aligned.

You will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects. You will be data-driven and analytical. You constantly strive to expand our understanding of the metrics that drive the platform growth. Your communication skills - both verbal and written – will need to be excellent, and you will be able to clearly communicate at all levels in the organization, including senior management.

Note: This position is available for candidates able to work from either our New York or Seattle location.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· A first-hand working knowledge of current web technologies
· Online distributed systems and platform infrastructure design and implementation
· Previously held a technical leadership role, delivering large-scale projects
· Experience delivering with an agile methodology (SCRUM, XP)
· Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, and a consideration for scale, efficiency and performance
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Strong writing skills · Prior software development and program management experience is a plus.
· Product and/or Program Management experience in digital advertising, online services or related industry
· Ability to operate and thrive with partial information and ambiguity
· Excellent time management, resource management and planning skills
· Ability to identify upcoming risks, issues, and bottlenecks and resolve issues that sometimes cross departmental boundaries

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 10+ years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry
· BS/MS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field
· Experience coordinating cross functional teams in software engineering
· Experience defining and managing projects, writing detailed functional test specifications, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule and deploy new features sets
· Experience in analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection
· Experience in on-time and on-budget delivery of large complex software or hardware projects.
