DESCRIPTION

The Infrastructure, Supply Chain, and Procurement (ISCaP) team within Amazon Web Services (AWS) is responsible for sourcing and delivery of all AWS hardware to ensure that Amazon customers have the right capacity, at the right time, at the lowest cost. Our AWS procurement team is looking for a results-oriented individual to assume responsibility for the supplier quality management of critical power and cooling suppliers in our growing data center infrastructure. Our supplier quality engineer is responsible for supplier qualifications, quality monitoring at supplier sites, supplier quality issue resolution and supplier development and quality improvement initiatives.

In this role you will lead internal and external engagements with engineering, procurement, supply chain management, operations, finance, construction, and suppliers to deliver robust and resilient quality systems at our vendors and within AWS. You will identify supplier quality defects or waste in our processes, and drive new processes to eliminate the defects and prevent them from recurring without posing risk to availability.

Responsibilities include:
· Create buy-in for the strategic vision and supplier quality roadmap across necessary teams.
· Verify and assure AWS quality standards are met at suppliers.
· Drive supplier qualification and assessment processes in support of supplier onboarding. This includes effective resolution of any issues identified.
· Enable supplier product qualification in partnership with peer functions like engineering and commissioning.
· Monitor and report on supplier performance quality metrics and actions.
· Lead supplier quality issue resolution in partnership with engineering, construction and commissioning teams.
· Develop and support suppliers with quality improvement initiatives.
· Provide a feedback mechanism for suppliers to our internal teams on joint quality issues.
Keys to success in this role include sound judgment and excellent written/verbal communication skills. The candidate should be able to extract insights from data and be able to communicate clearly appropriate triggers and actions.
Travel required, both international and domestic, approximately 30-50%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications
· MBA or advanced degree in engineering or other quantitative disciplines.
· Demonstrated performance in prior role(s), with increasing levels of responsibility.
· Expert knowledge in manufacturing processes, ISO-9000, quality control plans and problem solving methodologies.
· Six Sigma certification.
· Lean certification.
· Highly proficient in Excel and the creation of tables, data, dashboards, reports.
· Project Management experience.
· Experience in data centers, an infrastructure service provider or similar technology company.
· International strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
· Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer.
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in science, math, engineering, or a related field.
· 2+ years of industry experience in construction or capital equipment project management, sourcing or purchasing including end-to-end procure-to-pay process.
· 7+ years in a quality management function with direct interaction with suppliers.
· 3+ years of experience with Excel advanced features (pivots, v-lookups, etc.)
