DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

We're looking for an outstanding Mechanical Engineer with a background in space vehicle test and integration. The ideal candidate has experience performing bottom up design and analysis for test fixtures, test facilities, and test flows. They should have extensive knowledge of structural design as well as space rated moving mechanical assemblies. This is a hands-on role for a highly collaborative individual that combines technical, and analytical capabilities to enable all aspects of mechanical testing from development, to qualification, to high volume acceptance testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Design and analyze structures, fluid systems, and mechanisms
· Develop in-house testing facilities
· Develop test plans for parts through development, qualification and acceptance testing.
· Defining test conditions and test methods
· Defining instrumentation for test setup, analyzing responses and correlating with analysis/predictions
· Create test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists
· Supervise the integration of test stands including fabrication, mechanical assembly and data/control systems

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· CAD – Siemens NX
· Experience with building a test facility form the ground up
· FEA capability – Ansys / NASTRAN (or equivalent)
· Highly experienced in issue tracking applications (JIRA, TRAC)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
· 5+ years of experience with hands-on test and CAD design of complex highly constrained systems for optimum spacecraft configuration.
· Experience with required test infrastructure to meet the needs of testing space craft.
· Experience in Finite Element Analysis of primary and secondary structures.
· Experience with structural materials and processes including metals, composites, bonded and bolted joints.
· Experience with common spacecraft subsystems: Power Systems (Solar Arrays, Batteries), Electric propulsion system integration, Secondary structures, Avionics assemblies, harnessing, Payload subsystems integration, Release mechanisms, Moving mechanical assemblies, LV Interfaces.
· Experienced with LEO space environments and mitigations.
