JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As working student, you will play a functional and technical support role in the daily work conducted by the CAT GIS Analytics Team in the natural catastrophe management unit of Allianz SE. This role will mainly revolve around functional and technical GIS support within a global project of Allianz group. Your tasks will include the creation and provisioning of geospatial data layers with the ESRI technology stack as well as automatization of such processes. Additionally, you will support the implementation of quality standards and best practices in our GIS / Geocoding environments and assist in ad-hoc requests around such topics. This role can also be extended to support the Research and Development Team within their current running projects regarding natural catastrophe perils.

Extensive subject-matter knowledge and cultural awareness are required.

KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Undergraduate majoring in any GIS / geo-science discipline, mathematics or related discipline.
Proficiency in the use of ESRI products and other GIS technology stack; sound understanding of geospatial data formats and the MS Office applications including Access and Excel.
Programming skills around geoprocessing (preferably Python) is a prerequisite; basic knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, Postgres) is a plus.
Carefully and diligently completes their duties and quickly grasps complex topics.
Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
Fluency in English is mandatory, and the ability to speak German would be beneficial.

Start of this position should be beginning of March 2020 at the latest for one year.
