At Q Restaurant, Bar and Veranda in the Fairmont Empress, you’ll share your passion and knowledge of local food and beverage with guests from all over the world. Serving regional cuisine made with ingredients from local farmers, artisans and our own roof-top herb garden, you will be proud to be an ambassador for our carefully curated food and beverage offerings.

This position is temporary part-time from June-July until October 2020. The pay rate for this position is $14.65 per hour, increasing to $16.02 after completion of 3 month probation and $18.30 after 6 months, plus gratuities.

Responsibilities:
·  Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way
·  Order and settle bills to various payment media
·  Follow restaurant policies, procedures and service standards
·  Have full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions
·  Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
·  Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
·  Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

·  Minimum two years recent (in the last five years) experience as a server in an “a la carte” dining setting in an upscale, high volume restaurant. OR combination of two (2) years as a Junior Server, expeditor or equivalent AND one (1) year recent (in the last five years) experience as a server in an “a la carte” dining setting in an upscale, high volume restaurant.
·  "Serving It Right" and "Food Safe" certificates
·  Basic knowledge of a POS system
·  Excellent organizational skills with a high level of responsibility and commitment
·  A team player with proven success in relationship building
·  A commitment to provide excellent service and exceeding expectations
·  Completely fluent English language skills; both written and verbal
·  Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
·  Professional and impeccable grooming and presentation
·  Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job, including:
·  Standing/walking for extended periods of time
·  Performing repetitive work
·  Lifting and carrying full trays

Note: The position of In Restaurant Server is physically demanding.  The successful applicant must be physically capable of performing repetitive work, standing and walking for long periods of time, as well as lifting and carrying a full tray long distances.
