Journeyman Engineer

 

Under the supervision and training of the Chief Engineer, the Engineer will assist in maintaining the hotel equipment and structure in an efficient and safe manner, providing for a properly functioning and luxurious guest room experience for our guests.

 

 

Hotel Overview:

Born of a golden era, the history of The Claremont dates back to the early days of the Gold Rush, when a Kansas farmer by the name of Bill Thornburg "struck it rich".  The Claremont boasts an award winning Spa & The Club at The Claremont.

 

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

 

The Engineer will report to and actively assist the Chief Engineer. The Engineer will be required to perform the following duties during shift including but not limited to the following:

·  Operation, maintenance and repair of high pressure steam boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, appurtenances and lines used in the distribution of steam, and heated or processed water.
·  Operation maintenance and repair of refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, and float valves, together with all refrigerant lines and devices used to control temperatures.
·  Operation maintenance and repair of pumps handling brines, or other secondary refrigerating liquids together with all valves, appurtenances and lines in the system.
·  Operation maintenance and repair of air compressors, together with distribution lines and all valves and devices for air control. 
·  Operation maintenance and repair of all natural and manufactured gas distribution lines, including all valves and control devices.
·  Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
·  Maintains a clean and safe working environment
·  Respond to emergency situations, acting in the engineering capacity to quickly and responsibly return the building to normal operating status.
·  Any other reasonable job related duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer
·  Painting projects will a priority for this positions as assigned  

 

Qualifications:

·  Journeyman Level Engineer certifications required
·  Previous experience is an asset
·  Preferred certified Operating Engineers Local 39
·  High School Diploma or equivalent required
·  Completion and certification of Operating Engineers Apprenticeship
·  Experience in hotel properties preferred
·  Ability to maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, equipment, and fixtures
·  Knowledge of HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, etc.
·  Flexible schedule required, shifts and hours varied

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

 

·  Constant standing and walking throughout shift
·  Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying up to 50lbs
·  Frequent bending, kneeling, ascending and descending stairs

Must have proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
