Job description

     

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position is responsible for optimizing the balance of inventory across the supply chain network in line with target customer service levels, levels of forecast accuracy and safety stock levels, for the allocated portfolio of SKU’s.

As TPM Supply Planner, the position ensures timely delivery to Abbott of Finished Goods manufactured and repacked by the TPMs to support Demand.

Key Areas of Accountability

1. Supply Planning and Sourcing

Implement and maintain Inventory and Material Management Strategies for all Finished Goods by regular review and optimization of inventory parameters and levels (e.g. reorder point, safety stock, ABC categorization)

  • Review the planned orders to alert the planning centers of possible inventory build-up.
  • Prepare the RCMAS (Request to Change Master Arrival Schedule) for the necessary deferments / cancellations of shipments which would potentially impact the DOH.
  • Ensure that the parameters in the DRP system are revised as necessary (safety stock levels, dock to stock, mode of shipment).
  • Alert the planning centers of carriers which have long transit times to trigger them to explore other possibilities to ensure timely arrivals of stocks.

Consultation with Production Schedulers regarding availability of production lines and approval of downtime at manufacturing sites.

  • Prepare the monthly redressing and production plans (Pedialyte) to provide the TPM with a summary of the estimated volumes for the next 12 months. This will enable the TPM to plan the procurement of the necessary raw materials and packaging supplies.
  • Coordinate on redressing / repacking activities to ensure supply availability.
  • Prepare the weekly Work in Progress (WIP) Report to summarize all products which need redressing / repacking.
  • Request the planning center to advance production, prioritize QA release and expedite the shipment of products which have potential supply issues.
  • Prepare the necessary quarantine request to expedite the availability of  the stocks

Plan replenishment across the Distribution Centre network (DRP) by maintaining the accuracy of plans to reflect feasible replenishment plans.

  • Ensure that the planned shipments are sufficient to support the demand while maintaining the desired inventory levels.
  • For possible delays in availability and probable supply shortfalls, make appropriate communications with the planning centers to address the anticipated gaps.
  • Prepare the necessary “Request to Change the Master Arrival Schedule” or RCMAS to expedite the shipments.
  • Prepare the monthly Available-To-Promise (ATP) Report to summarize the supply availabilities / commitments for the month.
  • Check and monitor shipment arrivals through coordination with the Logistics group to ensure availability of goods as committed in the ATP report.
  • Prepare the weekly backorder report to give visibility to the planning center of our actual and potential backorders to enable them to come up with the necessary contingency measures.

Participate in the monthly business review with the planning center where demand and supply issues are discussed.

Accountable for master data for Material Planning, Production and PIR/ Source lists for DRP.

  • Ensure that the parameters in the DRP system are revised as necessary (safety stock levels, dock to stock, mode of shipment) so that the planned replenishments will satisfy the market demand.
  • Provide the information for the fields (related to Supply Planning) in the Item Master set-up form and initiate field revisions as necessary.

Conduct root-cause analysis for supply chain issues/variances and perform define corrective action plans to avoid reoccurrence.

  • Analyze the demand statements and supply plans to determine the reasons for the variances (demand or supply-driven).
  • Come up with action plans (air shipment, quarantine shipment) to address the supply issues.
  • Make appropriate communications with the planning centers for the necessary actions.

Liaise with Marketing, Demand Planners and Manufacturing to validate feasibility of mid-long term supply plans (S&OP) for the products under own responsibility and recommend actions in case of issues.

  • Prepare the supply plan for :

    Imported products using the Master Arrival Schedule (MAS)

    Products which require repacking / redressing

    Products which are locally-produced (Pedialyte)

  • Come up with action plans (air shipment, quarantine shipment) to address the supply issues
  • Make appropriate communications with the planning centers for the necessary contingency measures

2. Third Party Management

Aligns with Supply to identify priority products and plans strategy with TPMs to get stocks delivered on time.

Monitors closely TPM activities and communicates/meets regularly with TPM and strategizes to meet the following concerns :

  • Implementation of production schedule
  • Material inventory and on-order, Risk Inventory
  • Facility, equipment conditions and availability
  • Setting of production/redressing lead times
  • Product Quality issues
  • Priority products availability
  • Warehousing
  • Bulk transfers, FG releases and FG pick-up schedules
  • Packaging Material monitoring for Abbott-supplied packaging materials
  • New Products Launch, development and documentation
  • Other technical support necessary

Communicates to all concerned any pertinent issues affecting product availability, changes in demand and any TPM requirements

Reviews TPM’s annual all-in-fee proposal / cost quotations and negotiates for better and reasonable pricing which should be within the budgeted TPM all-in-fee/standard cost. 

Submits revised quotations to approving officers thereafter

Prepares and submits to Finance the annual TPM cost (all-in-fee, trucking cost, logistics cost) for the annual SUC plan preparation

Supports/ participates in the corporate audit of TPM plants, distribution warehouses and suppliers.
