JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Logistics Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for warehousing & transportation activities within the tier 1 Roseville Distribution Center (RDC). Working closely with the RDC Continuous Improvement Manager, this position requires the ability to perform planning, implementation, and tracking of logistics activities utilizing extensive experience in supply systems and procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Evaluate effectiveness of current or future logistical policies, processes and procedures and develop as applicable.
  • Apply logistics modeling techniques to address issues such as operational process improvement or facility design or layout.
  • Work cross functionally with business partners to identify opportunities and improve business processes and behaviors
  • Perform data analysis on logistics and transportation activities.
  • Develop specifications for equipment, tools, facility layouts, or material-handling systems.
  • Evaluate the use of technology to maximize distribution center efficiency and proposed solutions
  • Develop logistic metrics, internal analysis tools, or key performance indicators for the RDC.
  • Develop or maintain cost estimates, forecasts, or cost models.
  • Analyze distribution packaging to increase efficiency, reduce transportation cost and reduce damage.
  • Maintain and continuously upgrade the production/distribution activities with a focus on quality of services.
  • Provide logistical facility or capacity planning analyses for distribution or transportation functions.
  • Works closely with Packaging, Manufacturing, Customer Service and IT to streamline and improve flow.
  • Works closely with IT to efficiently implement logistics systems such as Mode Optimization within the existing SAP Transportation Management system.
  • Facilitate and coach cross functional improvement events to deliver positive and measurable results for the facility.
  • Support the continuous improvement strategy in collaboration with the distribution and freight management team. Coordinates with operations team to ensure alignment and resource support related to continuous improvement.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

Qualifications:

General Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Logistics
  • Proven experience in logistics with 1-2+ years of experience
  • Strong creative and strategic thinker
  • Strong analytical and database skills
  • Expert knowledge in standard office desktop computer applications such as Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; other languages are an asset
  • Strong project management skills
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable
  • Experience with Lean tools and methodology required
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Ability to travel approximately 5-10%, including internationally
