Job description

The release and build master will oversee the architecture and maintenance of a robust, reliable, automated and efficient build process, ensure the high-level administration of Perforce for production, coaching and support to release and build specialists in collaboration with the manager. Thanks to his/her expertise, the incumbent will propose and finalize work and data flow enhancements in the production pipeline that impact version processing. The incumbent will also share his/her time between team management and release and build master tasks.

What you'll do

·  Make major technical decisions regarding the build system and its features;
·  Carry out technological monitoring as it pertains to project objectives and the sector;
·  Be a technical coach for the build and release specialists on the team (code review and guidelines);
·  Anticipate automation material resource and software needs for project milestones;
·  Coordinate knowledge (e.g. roundtables) and best practices sharing with studio partners;
·  Support the reuse and sharing of existing tools between projects;
·  Make technical decisions for multi-site projects;
·  Make recommendations to the programming team on build system architecture;
·  Ensure the robustness, reliability, efficiency, reusability, versatility and parameters of the build system;
·  Be a technical coach for build and release tech leads;
·  Make field-related technical recommendations for other projects;
·  Occasionally intervene as an expert consultant at the start or end of projects;
·  Be a reference for the studio in his trade;
·  Share knowledge in the field (e.g. UDC participation, Capsule, SharePoint) at the studio and group levels;
·  Implement metrics and interpret these metrics to enhance the quality of the systems;
·  Make technical choices that reach beyond the project (long-term strategy);
·  In collaboration with other working units, recommend and increase the efficiency of version creation systems and related pipelines;
·  Carry out all other related tasks.

 

What you bring

·  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent.
·  3-5 years’ relevant experience.
·  Rigour and structure;
·  Excellent SCM skills (Perforce, Clearcase, CVC, etc.);
·  Extensive knowledge of script language (e.g. Perl, Python);
·  Batch (win32);
·  Solid knowledge of C# and C++ languages;
·  Ability to lead change and train teams.
·  Expert knowledge of builds in C++ and C# (makefiles, C++ and C# compilers, Visual Studio, project configuration, etc.);
·  Bilingualism (French-English, spoken and written);
·  Autonomy and innovation;
·  Good analytical skills and attention to detail;
