At TJX our diverse Global IT organization supports an array of technical solutions from emerging to legacy. The TJX North American Solutions Delivery team has an opportunity for an experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer to develop applications for our global Merchandising Planning Program using existing IBM custom mainframe applications. In this critical role you will focus on our legacy systems while collaborating with other system team leads to develop scalable solutions with a key focus on performance and stability.

Responsibilities 

·  Develop applications for assigned legacy applications
·  Drive analysis, design, and build of merchandise planning models for off-price retail while working closely with Integration Team members
·  Work with custom planning and inventory unit control application databases on DB2 to build extracts for the necessary plan data to be consumed by downstream applications such as Oracle RPAS (Retail Predictive Application Server) and IBM’s Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW)
·  Transition developed legacy mainframe merchandise planning applications to production support team and contribute to ongoing maintenance and support as needed
·  Identify performance issues in legacy planning applications and provide solutions for improvement
·  Perform testing, including defining/supporting acceptance testing criteria and gathering feedback from pre-release testers
·  Participate in software release and post-release activities, including support for product launch (such as system demos and/or sample files/reports) and competitive analysis for subsequent product build/release cycle maintenance

Requirements 

·  10+ years IT solutions development
·  Minimum 3 years of experience with IBM Planning Analytics  Workspace (PAW)
·  Minimum 8-10 years of COBOL, MF COBOL, Easytrive, REXX, DYL280
·  Minimum of 8-10 years of CICS
·  Minimum 3-5 years of database work including DB2, VSAM, IMS DB/DC, Natural ADABAS, Stored Procedures
·  Knowledge of Job Control Language (JCL), ESP, CA7, OPC
·  Ability to work both independently as a Developer and as part of a scrum team
·  Functional understanding of business domains, particularly in the Off-Price Retail industry required
·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·  Strong analytical skills, with the ability to decompose complex problems and/or processes into logical parts
·  Experience developing within an Agile environment required, SAFe certified
·  Experience managing off-shore resources required including coordinating and monitoring work, clarifying issues/blockers and conducting knowledge transfer sessions
·  Experience authoring of documentation needed by users and implementation partners including  enhancements and modifications to technical design documents (both high level and detailed), and creation of relevant traceability matrix documents against Functional Requirement Document (FRD)
·  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
