Jr. Copywriter

The primary responsibility of a Jr. Copywriter is to research and create web-product copy for the full range of Sierra product categories. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise with written English and the desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment with challenging daily targets and weekly deadlines. Strong knowledge of OMS software or the ability to quickly master OMS is a plus. A Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience in a writing-intensive field is desirable.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Write sales-focused, benefit-oriented product copy and accurate specs for a wide variety of products: footwear, casual apparel, active apparel, outerwear, outdoor gear, accessories, housewares and more
·  Research, identify and communicate key product features, benefits and specifications with 100% accuracy
·  Translate technical product specifications into lively, benefit-oriented e-commerce copy and associated content
·  Write product copy that demonstrates an acute awareness of our vendors and their brands
·  Complete other projects as assigned, including researching and entering product specifications
·  Collaborate with buyers, vendors, quality-assurance staff, CSR, photographers and marketing specialists to ensure our customers receive accurate product information
·  Adhere to Sierra style guidelines and SEO requirements
·  Proof and edit copy and product specifications
·  Ensure digital copy assets are correctly created and maintained in an Adobe platform
·  Other duties as assigned

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·  1-4 years of professional experience as a writer of marketing copy, preferably within an e-commerce environment
·  Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, journalism, English, writing or relevant professional experience in a writing-intensive field is desirable
·  Outstanding knowledge of Sierra products and vendors
·  Extremely detail-oriented mindset
·  Highly organized and self-motivated
·  Well-versed in editing, grammar and proofreading
·  Ability to conduct accurate web-based research
·  Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality
·  Proficiency in OMS, Microsoft Office applications and Adobe programs is helpful
·  Familiarity with AP style and SEO best practices is desirable
