Job description

• Understanding of plastic injection molding process.From development, tool design, industrialization, equipment selection & material science knowledge
• Strong involvement in selection of housing/cap industrial partners to support ST growth in optical module strategy and expand supplier capability portfolio to ST
• Collaborate as transversal expert role with the ST R&D, back end & mass production teams and with plastic housing suppliers for high precision part DFM feasibility and industrialization.
o Contribute to cap design rules and roadmap definition and alignment
o Ensure vendors are using the most appropriate injection molding technologies & processes to meet ST requirements
o Ensure suppliers establish robust manufacturing process incl. selection, development and implementation of reliable tooling, manufacturing equipment qualification strategy with respect of ST project milestones.
o Coordinate with housing supplier and ST teams for the mold tooling construction based on the agreed specifications during each development phase
o Review with suppliers to confirm quality requirements are met & drive continuous improvement activities. If any issue, lead to resolve any manufacturing problems
o Review and align supplier outgoing technical data with ST IQC requirements.
o Review & challenge technical data measurement data, procurements & cosmetic specs
• Ensure and coordinate capability review with strategic and new suppliers. Analyze the suppliers capability from proto through to qualification and MP
• Direct technical interface with end customer facilitating technical dialogue & action follow-up
Contribute and manage tool qualification process. Ensuring process capabilities, piece part cpk’s and all relevant procurement and cosmetic specifications are achieved.

Profile

• Good knowledge of thermoplastic polymers
• Good understanding of injection molding process, tooling conception with proven design experience of high precision molds
• Proficient with statistical data packages such as JMP
• Understanding of mass production process controls. (spc, cpk, CoC, FoT)
• Some previous experience in products and processes like micro injection molding, metal insert molding, Molded Interconnect Devices (MIDs), Laser Direct Structuring (LDS), Twin shot molding and printed electronics
• Knowledge of semiconductor assembly process would be advantageous
• Mechanical Engineering background
• Fluent in Chinese & English language
• Good understanding of CAD 2D/3D
• Attitude for team work + to work in a fast-pace international context
• The job holder will have to travel often in Asia (Suppliers and ST sites) and, occasionally, to Europe.
