Reporting to the Tax Manager, the purpose of this role is to assist the Tax Manager to identify opportunities to enhance compliance and mitigate indirect tax risks in the AP region.
Job scope:
This role covers mainly indirect taxes, with some aspects of direct taxes.
- Assist with the preparation of GST/VAT returns for Singapore, Australia and Thailand
- Liaison with business and support units to address day-to-day indirect tax issues
- Advise business and support units on indirect tax issues, ensuring tax risk is managed appropriately
- Attend to the indirect tax queries by tax authorities
- Assist in managing indirect tax audits/investigations (eg SOX, ACAP)
- Provide training to increase indirect tax awareness
Profile
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GST/VAT matters, preferably with 2-3 years working in a public accounting firm (i.e. Big 4) or tax department of MNC.
- Strong understanding of supply chain and possess experience in Assisted Compliance Assurance Program and Major Export Scheme.
- Meticulous, independent and hands-on attitude towards work
- Good communication skills and team player
- Accredited by Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals (SIATP) is an added advantage
- Proficient in Excel
- SAP experience is an added advantage
- Knowledge of corporate tax is advantageous
