Job Overview and Responsibilities:

The Occupational Nurse we're looking for is a part-time, 2 days a week position.

The Occupational Nurse provides for and delivers healthcare services to the employees at the Borger Plant.  This position has direct responsibility for aspects of the facility's occupational health program and oversees all nursing services.  Job activities include but are not limited to:

·  Work as part of the Health and Safety Team to identify, investigate and resolve situations that threaten a safe and healthy work environment.
·  Work with GBU HSE personnel, Facility HSE personnel and local providers to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and continually improve the occupational health program.
·  Work in conjunction with Emergency Response Personnel to provide appropriate emergency and first aid treatment and ensuring appropriate care.
·  Perform certain clinical duties which may include: taking medical histories, and recording vital signs.
·  Perform professional case management duties in accordance with industry best practices.
·  Work in conjunction with the Human Resources Department to administer the workers' compensation program, medical leave of absence program and company return to work procedures.
·  Coordinates through local providers (and in some cases administer and conduct) the site employee routine medical monitoring program including physical exams, audiometric exams, spirometry testing, respirator fit testing and functional capacity exams.
·  Maintenance of employee health records.
·  Develop and conduct training to support the site emergency response team and to promote employee and contractor safety.
·  Coordinate the procurement of supplies required to maintain the operation of an industrial health facility.

Education and Experience:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in nursing and 5 or more years of related occupational health experience with a strong working knowledge of the specified functional area; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. 

Must be a Licensed Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Texas.  Certified Occupational Health Nurse credentials (COHN or COHN-S designation) and Certified Case Manager credentials (CCM) are preferred. 

American Heart Association certification in Basic Life Support & Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor required.

Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance with U.S. OSHA (including recordkeeping , first aid, and medical surveillance) required.

Experience in a unionized manufacturing setting, a plus.

The position requires experience in coordinating services with multiple systems; making independent nursing judgments; ability to organize work and manage time effectively; ability to express ideas clearly in verbal and written form; and have current knowledge of laws and regulations governing worker and worksite safety and health.  The candidate must be customer-focused and results-driven, and have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company.

Skills:

Must be familiar with medical filing systems and have thorough knowledge and proficiency in using most Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). 

Familiarity with medical software is beneficial. 

Must be able to handle difficult personnel situations and be able to maintain strict confidentiality and privacy and have experience within a HIPPA covered entity.
